I got my approval from my insurance!!!!!  I am so excited to get started on my journey.  They are going to be able to do my surgery on Sept 11.  I still haven't told my family or my coworkers yet, and I'm still not sure how I'm going to do that yet.   My husband and I are celebrating my news in secret for now.  Just wanted to share my news with everyone.

Congratulations!

That is exciting news!  I can understand having not yet told family or others yet.  I am kind of right there as well.  I have told a few people (my mother, my 3 best friends, and my boss), but I haven't told my sisters, my in-laws, or others yet.  I made my mother promise me that she would keep this to herself until I am know for sure that I will be approved by the insurance company.  I had learned a long time ago that it is silly to tell people you are going to do something if there isn't anything set in stone that says you can do it.  So I am waiting in silence as well... for a while.  I hope that no one responds negatively to you.  When I told one of longest, closest and dearest best friends about doing the surgery she started crying because she is so worried that I will have difficulties from it.  I just told her the truth.... isn't it that a possibility in any surgery that people have?  Ultimately the consequences pale in comparison to the benefits.... and I seriously doubt that my PCP (who I have been seeing for almost 18 years now) would dare allow me to do something that he thought would be more harmful than good for me.  Point is... when you do tell them be prepared as some may try to discourage you... but remember to tell them you are doing this for your health and by doing that you are doing it for them as well.... so that you may be able to spend many more happy years with them in your life.

I am so excited for you.  September 11th will be here before you know it.  I look forward to hearing more about your journey down this road.

Congrats!  Take your time telling the people in your life.  Sometimes co-workers are not the friendliest and most supportive people in your life.  I hope your family is happy for you and know we are all here for you to lean on whenever you need us.

Hoping everyone is happy for you and encourages you daily!

Tracy
