I am cleared for surgery!!!

Did all the tests.  The upper GI almost made me sick on the table, but I managed it.  The internal medicine Dr. seemed a little puzzled about me doing surgery.  "Bariatric Surgery at 30?"  I said "Well, I've been battling obesity since I was 8, I've been fighting for 22 years and I need a permanent tool to help."  He was cool after that.

Met with Dr. Clark.  They weighed me prior to meeting him and I have gained 10 pounds since I quit smoking 22 days ago, so I need to work on that.

Now, I have the Nutrition class Thursday.

Only 23 more days til  I take my place on the loser's bench!!!!!

PS...there was a sweet lady in the waiting room for the upper GI test that I told about this site.  She is going to have surgery Sept 2. So, we may have a new member joining the Indiana people soon.

Glad all your tests went well.  Congrats on quitting smoking.  Unfortunately, I quit before my surgery, but picked up that bad habit again several months after my surgery.  Now after dropping 186 pounds, I have decided my health is too important to ruin it with tobacco.  So I registered with Quit Indiana and have selected a quit date of Sept. 1.  This organization provided me with 2 weeks of the patch for free!  Couldn't beat that!
Your Nutrition class will be a little overwhelming, at least it was for me.  They give you a ton of information, but you will need all of it after surgery.  It will all make sense later.  Take lots of notes.  Surgery day will be here before you know it!  Congrats!  Karen

Congrats on the testing and quitting smoking. I know it's a hard thing to do. You'll be on the loser's bench before you know it!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think we aall get overwhelmed at the  Nut. class.Take lots of notes, & don't go out & buy a bunch of diff. protien mixes- you may not like them/tolerate them, after your surgey.I got the basics & a few Isopure, & then only the Mango flavor. Keep a postiive attitude, read all of your Yellow Sheets over & over, & you'll do great.

You can quit the smoking habit too, girl! It is so worth it to have better breathing & health. Get some cinnamon sticks and use as a subsittute when you want to hold on/puff. That is what the Lung Dr. told my step-dad when he was diagnosed with cancer. Helped him quit, too.
Rooting for you & sliding over<__ >on the Losers Bench to welcome you, & others, soon!!

Yeah, the cinnamon stick trick seems like it would work better than the
substituting the nicotine breaks at work for frappacinno breaks.
That probably had alot to do with the 10 pound gain.  But I haven't slipped even once on the smoking so that is the only upside to it.
