Moving to Indiana
Hello all.
This post in not in regards to weight loss surgery but seeking out advice and reassurance about a move. My family (myself, my husband and my 2 1/2 year old son) are moving to Bloomington, Indiana in February 2009.
We're a military family that will become civilians again on Feb. 20. We're so excited to go back to "normal" life. We've moved about 20 times between the two of us and WE'RE TIRED OF IT. So we're making Bloomington our permanent home. We're both originally from the midwest (I'm from Chicago and he's from Ohio) and want to move our child back to a comfortable and normal way of life (we've been living in California for the last year and a half
).
Anyone have any imput on living in Indiana? Living in Bloomington, in particular?
I'd appreciate ANY advice that is given! THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Hi Laurien! Just wanted to welcome you to Indiana! Hope that you have a good move! As far as Bloomington I can't tell you about how it is to live there because I live close to Kokomo. I do know that it is very pretty down in that area. There is a big lake close to there, Lake Monroe. Anyway it will be nice to have you in our state! Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help! Michelle

Laurien, I live about an hour from Bloomington, and I go there quite often. I really like the town. It really is a college town tho, with all the bars and "kids" running around! LOL It is a very nice community tho, so I do hope you find that you will love living there! There is a nice mall, and lots of retail outlets. Many different things to choose from. Hope you keep us posted as your move gets closer! Take care!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!
You only have one life to live, but if lived right, it's the only one you need!

Hi, welcome! I live in Terre Haute, about an hour from Bloomington on State Road 46. Bloomington is a nice town, a college town, nice area. I've noticed from being there, one thing you'll like. Their gas is generally cheaper than in Terre Haute! Doh for me. We are there with some frequency, because my son's doctor in there. So maybe we can have lunch some time.
Welcome to Indiana!! Bloomington is just south of me, we ride our motorcycle thru there several times during the summer... I like that way to Nashville. After CA it may seem a little tame...Hopefully for you heh??? But there is SO much to offer in the area. I am sure you won't be disapointed!!

Welcome to the board and state! I am in Salem....very small town...about an hour east of Bloomington. It beautiful in that area. I lived in a few other states and I have to say I call Indiana home. I think it will be a great move for you. Just try not to live near the campus of student housing. I am sure they have some great areas for families. I lived behind fraternity/sorority row in Muncie...not the best place for little kids to be around. It gets very noisy and congested at night.
Hi Lauren,
Hi we moved to Bloomington from San Diego about 8 years. My husband was stationed on the Kittyhawk then was transferred to Crane. We were originally from Ohio. We lived there about 4 years. Its nice and quiet, a big change from San Diego. Bloomington has changed ALOT even since we lived there. There was NOT alot of job prospects for my hubby. When he went reserves he needed a fulltime job. He found a job in Plainfield at the Correctional Facility there and has been there 8 years. We always found ourselves in Indy all the time anyway so we moved to Plainfield. ( a suburb) We love it here. Welcome to the Indiana Board. Keep in touch. Thanks Shanna
