I got a call from St. Vincents at work today with a Surgery Date of Oct. 15!  I guess when you finally decide to self pay and hand them a check for over $5000  things get booked fairly quickly, just went down there yesterday morning to tell them I would be a self pay!  So two months out from today! WOW!  My birthday is Oct. 10th, so Happy Belated Birthday to Me!!!!  Now I have 6 wks to get a few more thousand together to pay the hospital!  I know I won't be shopping for any new clothes now in the next 2 months, and no more junk food,  that should save me alittle!  LOL
Thanks to all of you for all your good wishes after I posted last night about making my decision, this morning I got up and wondered.................so much money, will put us back to pinching pennies again............but all your post eased my mind.  I AM WORTHY!!!  Also at work today a customer came in that I knew had had RNY a couple years ago, he had to have his gall bladder removed and a hernia after the surgery............but he still told me he would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!  Nice to hear stories like that!  You guys can all bet I will be on here every night soaking up all the info I can find!  I did go to Mejier today and bought a mini blender for $19.95!  A co-worker just bought one to bring her fruity protein drinks with her to work. (She is just dieting-not had any surgery)   It has a plug in base, and the top is the size of a tall glass with the blades in it.  After blending, you can remove the glass and take it to work, it also fits in your coke holder in your vehicle!  Bought an extra set of glasses for 9.95.  Thanks for listening to me babble again, just had to tell someone since I am not telling anyone I know till after the surgery!

Yay for you!
My surgiversary date is on your birthday. On Oct. 10 it will be 1 yr for me.
What a great birthday present to give yourself!  I wouldnt buy much protein drinks before your surgery cause your taster goes funky on you for a while.  Just buy little at a time and make sure you can tolerate it.  Good luck to you and it will go fast.

That's awesome news, and your day will be here before you know it.  I am three weeks out and let me tell you that my taste buds are so different than they were before surgery.  Today I am craving seafood so bad its not even funny, before surgery I wouldn't touch the stuff.  So like Jenny said don't buy much stuff pre op thinking you will like it after.  I was convienced that happend to other people not me lol....so yeah I have 4 opened bags and canisters of protien powders that I cannot choke down now.

Oh Spike! I am so happy for you and your new life to begin. It is a bumpy ride but a fun one. It is a ride that I wouldn't want to change for anything in the world. You will soon know just what we are talking about when we mention this to you. We will be making room for you on the Hoosier's Loser bench. I am with everyone on the taste buds thing. It happened to me too. I loved Muscle Milk light is chocolate milk before surgery and after surgery it just bothered me something crazy. I too can't get enough seafood either. We eat is at least 3 times a week now. I am so glad that Bill is as much a seafood eater as I am now. haha Congratulations again, and you are going to be so glad that you decided to do this for YOU!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
