Broken toe..maybe...????

Although an xray would tell you whether or not it's broken, there's not much to do other than wear stiff, flat shoes, ice, and if possible "buddy tape" it to the neighbor toe.  If you want to know if it's broken, your doctor would probably order an xray if you called and asked!

I'm sure my doctor would be willing to call in an order for an x-ray if I asked..she's pretty good about that sort of thing. I just couldn't see taking the time to go do that if they couldn't do anything for it anyway.

I have flat, closed toe shoes on. It smarts..but it is one of the widest pair I have. It is staying in place well enough so I didn't do any tape..especially since I figured that would probably just bug me more than anything. It does, I'm sure, need some ice time but that is going to have to wait until I go home last night...and after the running we have to do gets done. I'm going to keep it elevated as much as I can here at work. most of my work this afternoon will be at my desk so it'll be a little easier to put it up on a chair. How long does it usually take to start easing up & get back to normal?

Thanks!

A broken toe can be sore for 4-6 weeks, depending on how active you are and how much ice time you get.  It'll probably remind you of the injury for years to come, just to make sure you didn't forget about it.
