Wrong end folks! Dumping is ..NOT
When you ...especially early out, it's because you didn't chew it up well enough usually. Many, many times this happens with meat..especially dry meat.
I have yet to hear of anyone actually dumping from meat or protein drinks. Now..they can and do become lactose intollerant...which...that can lead to either or
..but that is not dumping. Dumping is typically caused by sugar, sugar alcohols, or fat intake (like fried foods). If you avoid those things as much as possible, you should not have an issue with dumping.
Vomitting on the other hand...now that is pretty common..but it's not the that comes to a pre-ops mind. The food we bring up has not been in our system long enough to taste horrible the second time around...and once you get the offending piece of food unstuck, you feel fine usually and are able to go back to eating your meal.
Bottom line...do as you are told to do and chew the he** out of your food and you shouldn't have any issues.

I am almost 4 years post-op. I have never dumped...so it can definately be done! I do believe I could dump though if I did something stupid. Now..I not pointing fingers at anyone so don't no one take offence to this..ok? But...I do think it is a stupid thing to test your limits to see if you'll dump. Some people will eat birthday cakes (and NOT sugar-free ones!!) and then be upset because they don't dump. DO NOT TEST THE LIMITS!!! ALWAYS assume that YOU WILL DUMP! And you will be okay.
That said, accidents DO happen though! One time my sister, mother & I were out shopping & had stopped at a StarBucks. My sister is also a post-op (5 yr now for her). I told her & our mom to go have a seat and I'd get us some latte's. They'd never been to a StarBucks..and hey..I'm the city girl..lol. Anyway, I get our lattes and we all thoroughly enjoy them. A week later, Cindy stops by on her way home from work and gets herself a latte. She enjoys it on the way home. I think she said that it was about 30 minutes later that she found herself in the bathroom

So what happened???
Cindy ordered: Large vanilla latte
I ordered for me & Cindy: Lage DECAF latte with SKIM milk and SUGAR-FREE vanilla flavoring
Cindy's was loaded with sugar (flavoring), fat (whole milk), and although it didn't contribute to the dumping, CAFFIENE (which, she was lucky didn't cause her an ulcer!!).
I think most folks do make it to the bathroom in time....it's getting out of there that is the problem. If you go through a dumping episode, you just in general feel like crap for at least a few hours. At most, for the rest of the day. Nope, not worth it to me! I have 4 grandbabies and I haven't touched a single one of their birthday cakes.
But...ask folks at a clothing exchange who the sugar-free queen is! LOL! I DO have my 'sweets'..just fixed the smart way!

I dumped once on something i was told was sugar free(not) 2 small bites and i felt my heart beating and was hot and flushed...
I now only anything i know for sure is sugar free and avoid fried foods all together.
But the protein drinks keep me near the little girls room alot. ive even tried soy milk.thats why i say trial and error for me.
I avoid the foods that got me in this shape altogether they are not worth it.
But i do think when i had the cantelope episode it was not chewing enough because now im fine with it.
Thanks for making me realize the diffrence.
