Made it through surgery ... what a long week!

I had my RNY Monday afternoon at Clarian North and did great ... I was keeping everything down, minimal pain/nausea ... then Wed. afternoon, I took a dose of liquid pain medicine. I was discharged at 3 and by the time I got home, I felt nauseated. Couldn't keep anything down, including my pain medicine, and I was in AGONY. My mom ended up calling Dr. Ditslear, who told us to go back to Clarian North's ER.

All in all we were in the ER for about 4 hours but once they got an IV in (took about 30 minutes bc I was so dehyrdrated) and I got pain meds, I was a happy camper (my poor mother, on the other hand, was a wreck) The ER doc was on/off the phone with my surgeon and they ended up admitting me ... I got into a room about 1 a.m., I think. The nurse was an angel giving me pain meds every few hours, so I felt better and, for once, actually slept in the hospital. LOL

I was released this afternoon and have been tolerating full liquids well today. Thank God. I'm still waiting on my first "movement" but have been passing gas lol. Never though at 33 I'd be so excited to fart. LOL

Congrats on surgery,... sorry you had to go right back in the hospital. Hopefully, you can stay home and recover now.

Congratulations on your recent surgery.  Sorry to hear you had a few rough days but glad you are now home.  Be careful to sip constantly so you don't become dehydrated again.  I had to go to the ER by ambulance about 4 days following surgery because of dehydration as well so I know how fast it can happen.  I learned to keep a sippy cup in my hand at all times.  Thankfully I didn't have issues with vomiting as you did --hopefully those days are behind you!!

Lmao at the gas issue! It just gets worse with age too!  Glad you are home and in your own bed! Hope your mom has got her nerves calmed down now...I am sure it was scary! Congrats on the beginning of your new journey!

Glad to see your home and improving, each day gets a little better.  I am 10 days preop and actually feel human today.  Give it time and get plenty of rest and you will be back to the land of the living soon.
