For those of you that don't take dumping on sugar seriously or
better yet, don't think you do dump on sugar so you think you can't dump on it. Boy have I got a story for you. I am one of those post ops that can get away with some sugar so I decided to pu**** with dangerous results. My post should serve as a warning, don't let this happen to you.

Thank you for sharing your story. I don't have a problem with sugars, and I don't dump. I do not run the risk of it happening tho usually on sweets. I wish I did dump tho, because that would definatly deter me from ever trying anything. Thank goodness you were ok. Thanks again for sharing.
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

LaChelle,
Be careful with the sweets (and starches). I didn't become hypoglycemi****il I was ~a year post-op. It's not always diarrea and/or sick to your stomach. I begin to get shakes and be clammy. I'll check my sugar and when I feel this way, it's usually in the low 40's. Initially, I thought I was having hot flashes. Since I try to stick to sugar-free as much as I can, it is starchy things that rapidly convert to sugar that I had to be especially careful of (potatoes, rice, pasta). I learned to completely avaoid those foods. That kept the hypoglycemia in check. Even the tiniest slivers of potatoes in veggie soup would be enough to cause problems for me. I have heard of others having a hard time due to fats..so fried foods.
Right now, I'm enjoying a reprieve from that. I guess I'll know my intestines are about back to normal when I get 'hot flash' symptoms from a baked potato again! LOL!
I have seen someone pass out from their sugar bottoming out. Very scary! I carry glycine tablets with me now no matter where we are.
What a tool we have! If we don't do as we are told..we MIGHT get away with it for awhile but you never know when your body is gonna knock you into next week and force you to avoid those things that aren't so good for you anyway...so be careful...k?

Thanks for posting this. I also never had issues with smaller amounts of sugar that I've tried here and there (I have issues with artificial sweetners, cannot use them, sometimes splenda but it makes me ill too at times). Anyways a couple months ago I had a dumping episode after some sugar that was higher than I had done. Since then I've had numerous dumping episodes on stuff that was not even high in sugar either. I tend to have delayed reactions though which is no fun. I have to carry something like peanut butter crackers or something with me JIC. I also can't do any carb or sugar after a certain time at night now because I wake up in the mid of the night with low blood sugars.
