Good morning all! How are you doing today? I hope well. We are going to Bloomington this morning, as my son has an appointment with his Nurse Practitioner for his meds. Then this afternoon, I have to go into work. Bah. No fun. Oh well, a necessary evil. At least I don't have to work tonight. I am debating on getting my hair colored tonight. I really want to do it, but I really don't want to spend the money. I don't know what to do. I kind of think I deserve a treat, but if we don't have the money, that goes out the window. Oh woe is me.
My DH is getting things in place to be a sub teacher this fall if the other job he interviewed for doesn't work out. Either way he would be working, and that would help out so much. I really hope he gets the interviewed for job though. I think he would really like it. Say a prayer for him if you do that. Thanks.

No class today! Yay! I do have to try to figure out how to send a box to Puerto Rico..refrigerated..in company. I'm going to walk down there here in a few minutes to get the details. I also checked on my 2 instruments. One over-pressured so I have a nice big mess to clean up and then hopefully find the source! Grrrr! It's in the chillroom so brrrr...so...I'm been procrastinating. Nothing like knowing it, huh? LOL!
I'm going to pick up Gail for lunch ~11. We're going to the Oriental restaurant that's in Wal-Marts parking lot on S31. Anyone care to join us? We'll probably be there between 11:15-11:30.

I continue to improve each day, actually feel pretty good today. My doc said I can drive starting tomorrow, not sure I am up to it but who knows by tomorrow I may be more improved. We had to replace our old car as the lease was up on it and unfortunatlly the new car didnt' come in until after my surgery so I havent got to drive it yet. I will need to go over to the dealership and have them give me a tutorial on all the bells and whistles soon.
I was able to get all my protein, vitamins and liquids in yesterday. I have to get out of bed at 5 am and didnt get back to bed until 11 last night to get it all done but I am committed to doing my part. I actually liked protein shakes before surgery now I struggle big time with them.

I think each of us are different with the binders. Some people wear them half of forever. Others, like me, wore them for MAYBE a week. It just depends on you & your body. As little as I wore it after my RNY, I wore it constantly after the hernia surgery...well..until my tummy started it's little swelling act and the binder would cut off my air supply.
I think you're doing great on getting your protein & water in. I try really hard to stress it to pre-ops to NOT taste test ANYTHING pre-op. Our taste buds change so much that just because you like something today doesn't mean you'll enjoy it tomorrow. Or..just because something goes down good for lunch, does not mean it will for dinner.Our pouches & taste buds are just extremely finicky! For me, it has gotten better..until I have to have another surgery anyway and then it's here we go again!
Make sure you get pleanty of sleep. That will be VERY important for your healing and for your weight loss. Oh...after each surgery I was told I could drive once I was completely pain-meds free.

Jeannie, I know just you are saying about the protein drinks. I liked them before and never noticed a texture to them either. They tasted like chocolate milk to me. Since surgery they taste like ick! I noticed a texture to them and they no longer tasted as good as chocolate milk. lol
As for the binder, I wore mine for about 3 weeks. But I don't know if you had lap or open. I had open so that may be why I felt more secure with it on. Then towards the end of wearing it I began to first lay on the bed with it off. I prgressed to walking around the house without it. Then I didn't wear it in the house but did when I went out. They I just got to the point that I didn't wear it and I felt secure knowing that it was going to be alright. It is how you feel about it. I felt some pulling when I didn't have it on. But then again I have noticed that a lot of people couldn't sleep on their sides for a while. I never had a problem with this and was sleeping on my sides in the hospital. I was even turning myself over the day of surgery. I think that the binder helped me imensely.
As for driving I was told that as long as I was off the pain meds I could. I waited just a few days because Bill thought that it was to soon. I drove the first couple of times with Bill because I thought that if something happened he would be there to help and to drive. I tend to go to the side of conservative. lol
You will know when it is time to try to do things. I found that it just kind of came naturally and it seems to be instinct too. So good luck and keep up the great work. You are doing fantastic.

I worn my binder for a while but I had open, like Brenda said I just felt like I needed it and if you need it wear it. The doc did tell me I could drive after pain meds were over. I remember telling him "WOW" I couldn't drive before surgery !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Morning all. Not much planned today other than working tonight. I am going to try to get some more sleep, but I just wanted to pop in and say hello.
I know Holly and her family and friends are supposed to be at Patoka lake today, so we are going to hopefully get to meet up with them for a little bit. I hope so anyway. We are going to go fishing also. The girls are excited about that. Jmmy has to work, so I guess it will just be us girls! Talk about an interesting event! LOL I will try to take pictures.

Andy has too see a rheumatiod(spelled wrong) arthritis doctor and lucas an emergency dentist ****pt telling him to brush his teeth)and he wouldnt listen to mom..
Then finish school shopping..fun

Good Mornin' All!
Well yesterday was a very nice wet day. We spent the day at the zoo. It was a little misty but atleast it was cool. We had a nice time. Then we ran to Avon to pick up Ty's OSU gym bag I had embroidered for his Birthday. Then we ate at Roscoe's Taco's in Avon...Yummo! All 4 of us ate there for 11.00. I guess on Wed's after for you buy 1 taco get 1 free! Wow and their taco sauces are amazing. Then it was off to pick up Ty's Birthday cake. Its a giant Buckeye. Its hilarious! I have pics. I will post. Then it was back home to let Delilah out and then run Ty down to Martinsville for drivers Ed! We ran around Martinsville for 2 hours. I have spent more time down there than I have ever wanted too lately. 2 weeks of driving and he is done. Today...back to work :) I am going to do some light yard work and then off to the gym and then to work.
Today is only going to be protein shakes....I had an episode with chicken last night and I need to get my stomache back to normal so I am doing just liquids for the next couple days. ( hopefully drop a couple pounds in the process) Have a great day :) xoxox SHanna
