Cooking

Hi Everyone,

I am currently waiting on my insurance approval and I have done everything else - gone to the orientation meeting, had the initial doctor consult, met with the psychologist and gone to a support group meeting.  I hope that I will get a positive response but in the mean time, I am trying to educate myself as much as possible on the process.

My question today focuses on how do you handle feeding your family after surgery.  I understand that things will change drastically for me and my eating habits.  How have you handled cooking for your families and does it make you sick to do the cooking or does it present you with a too much temptation?  I am trying to figure out the logistics. I do all of the grocery shopping and cooking for my Mother (disabled) and Husband.  Any insight you post op patients that have tackled this issue can provide would be helpful.

I make healthy-ish dinners for all of us and they love it all!

I am making homemeade Greenbenas w/ potatoes and ham tonight. I will pick out mostly ham 2-3 ozs. and a few beans.

You can prety much change anything to make it to where you can eat it!

We had New york strips on the grill sunday night w/ corn on the cob and sugar snap peas. The best steaks I have ever made! Its all about the herbs/spices and the way its prepared....

I make spaghetti w. turkey and barilla plus spaghetti ( very high in protein) I ate 3-4 ounces. I had it for 3 meals.

Good luck xoxox shanna

Hey Lady I am with Kim there are just my husband and I. He is a huge eater and so I thought I would be too tempted so we went to the Kroger and stocked up on frozen TV dinners. He is getting really tired of them though so I guess I can cook for him on the weekends. TTFN! Michelle
