Elfster

Those who are on the directory...and are an Elfster in good standing..or have never been an Elf..... should have recieved their invitation to participate in the 2nd 2008 Elfster draw of the year. Don't wait very long to respond as the deadline is this Tuesday, July 15th. If you wait until after that date, you will have to wait until January 2009 to participate. Hope all is going better! I haven't had a chance to read all and catch up but I did talk to Gail for a little bit and she said you were having some difficulties! I hope that you receive some answers soon! I have been thinking of both you and Bill as well as some others on here! I have been extremely busy with work and trying to get things taken care of here on the home front! Having some issues of my own and Mark is healing from a fractured wrist! I'm still battling intestinal stuff and of course, Bill is still (and will always be) battling his visual problems. But life goes on and we're just trying to do the best we can with it all. Which is why we're going to Indiana Beach next week. We just got to the point that we HAVE TO get some of our normal life back...you know?                                

I hope you're able to start driving again soon. I was going to respond to your thread yesterday morning but this silly thing would not let me respond to anything (or put in a fresh post****il about 3 or so. Grrr. Anyway, I know how frustrating it is not being able to hop in your car and go. You're fortunate to have another driver in the house. Bill may have a legal lisence but there is NO WAY I would get in a vehicle if he was behind the wheel! LOL! Fortunately, he has enough common sence not to try to drive either! Whew! Take care of yourself!

I received my invite but missed the information about Elfster the first time around.  Can you give a brief listing of details regarding this.  I know it is a way of remembering someone with cards, small gifts etc. but do we get a listing of some of their info -- other than what is on the H. directory?  Likes, dislikes, etc.  I did not participate the first time around but hoping my life is settling down somewhat and may have time to join the fun this time.

After  Tuesday, I'll be sending out a note to all who have accepted to welcome them to the exchange as well as to Elfster. Beyond the directory...which really, is just a good starting place...this board & Elfster is where you are going to be able to glean most of your information about your drawn person. So why make being on the directory a requirement? Well...without your address, it's REALLY hard to send you anything at all. Without your special dates, hard to know when those are. Oh...without your phone number, alot of floral places won't deliver arrangements for those special dates. Besides, the directory is a terrific tool to help bring all of us together. On Elfster, you can ask people questions...without them knowing it was you who asked. Cool beans, huh? And then of course on here, you can always look out for the posts your person makes and pick up special details about them. Such as...well, after my stints in the hospital, I had talked on here how I had gotten hooked on Suduku so my elf had sent me a Suduku puzzle book. Another person sent me a coloring book & crayons because I have small grandchildren. If you meet the person at a clothing exchange, etc, you may also pick up on personality traits to help you tailor your gifts. My last go-round is just very 'zen-like' in person. Hey....you all who have met Emil...wouldn't you think of him kinda like that? So...for one of his special dates, I sent him a bonzai plant. That just seems to fit him. Me? I'd kill the poor thing. It's gotta be an outdor plant or it doesn't survive for me. But...a good dehydration book, now THAT would be up my alley! So..there are a few different ways of gaining info.                                                               

First things first though...to participate, you need to follow the link that was included in the message from Elfster & accept the invite. If you no longer have that email, let me know and I'll have Elfster resend it to you.
