OT: Holiday World tips?
Amy,
I loved how much they have there for little kids. My grandson is a wimp it comes to water but there was plenty to keep him busy. He had a blast. Not only are there rides (including a roller coaster just for little guys & gals), but there is also a slide/climbing area with a water fun area in the center.
Food-wise, I never had a problem, no matter what stage I was in, to find something to eat. And their prices were excellent (especially when you compare them to other amusement parks!). What I do is bring in a screw-top bottle of water. Where-ever there is pop, there's ice cold water. I'd dump in a to-go pack of Crystal Light, fill up & shake!
If possible, Lake Rudolf is a wonderful place to stay...so you may want to check into the rental prices of their equipment. We stayed in June at Santa's Lodge. It maybe a little pricier than other places, but it was comfortable & very close to the Amusement Park. Check out specials to get a discount on Holiday World's tickets. I think right now they have one going that you get some taken off if you bring in an empty pop can...but I'm not certain.
Up north, near Shipshiwana, there's another amusement park called Fun Spot that is also good for small kids. They have several rides just for them in their own little area plus they have a 'zoo'...pretty much lions. http://www.funspotpark.com/

Hi Amy,
I went with the OH group, I had only heard about your years. My daughter has 4 kids ages 6months - 2,8,11. This will be the 1st time for the 2year old. My grandson's thought it was so funny their NANA went. I think the only I would change is using just a little stronger sun screen. It was so nice & clean too.
Have a great time, Gail

Amy,
I can get you a discounted rate at our Comfort Inn & Suites. Just call me and I'll arrange it. My contact info is in the directory. The hotel is about 20 minutes away but the rate is good (usually $59 a night). It's a newer hotel and has a pool and sauna. Let me know if I can help.
Also, the rates for your children will be less because they are 4 &5. Look on www.holidayworld.com and find out exactly what it is. You can get discounted tickets at most places in Spencer County. I think the saving is around $5 during July and $4 during August.
Generally Tuesday is the best day to go but the crowds aren't bad, even on their highest attendance days.
Glad you'll be visiting us!

Thanks for the tips and help everyone! Unfortunately, we talked it out last night and I just don't think the finances will be there for us to do a trip this summer. Now he's talking about going next June, and then Disney in 2010...but that's up for negotiation, as I do NOT want to wait until Emily's 7 to do Disney! MEN!!!
