New to this and need answers
Hi Everyone,
I'm Stacie. I joined this forum because I need support and answers to questions I have about the surgery. I've had my initial consultation with my dr and I am trying to get my psych. evaluation done. I'm having trouble finding a dr to do that. I'm on Indiana Medicaid and not very many take it. So we are at a standstill there.
1. Does anyone have any regrets having the surgery done? If so, what are they? If not, tell me how you decided to have it done.
2. Is there anyone on here from Southern Indiana. I live South of Columbus. I'm looking for people to chat with from all areas. I have MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger.
3. How long was it before your insurance deceided to approve or deny you?
I'm sorry for all the questions, I just want to know what I'm getting into. I'm actually pretty excited and I want to stay that way...lol
I hope to chat with you all soon,
Stacie
Stacie Q.
Stacie,
I live in extreme southern Indiana near Evansville. Most people can relate to my area when I tell them I live near Holiday World/Splashin' Safari. I don't have any IM programs so I'm of no use there. I can let you know that this surgery was the best thing I've ever done for myself. Not one regret here. I'm a little over 8 months out and it's been better than I could've ever dreamed.
Welcome to the Indiana board and I hope things go smoothly for you.
Blessings,
Jacqui
Hi Stacie!! I'm 2 1/2 months out, down 40 lbs and over 40 inches, and have ZERO regrets. I decided to have the surgery primarily for health reasons. I'll be 37 next month, and I started the process last September. I didn't have any co morbidities at the time, and knew I needed to do something or I would. My girls are 4 and 5, and I want to be around for decades...they need me!
I'm in north central Indiana, and there are folks on here from all over! I log onto yahoo occasionally, my ID is momto2in2.
Insurance approved me quite quickly after my psych evaluation was done. I had to self pay the psych eval ($150) to Dr Stote, as he doesn't file insurance. Medicaid I have no clue how that works...I guess I just assumed everyone had to self pay the psych eval. My evaluation was Nov 2, it was sent to BCBS on Nov 29, and I got the phone call on Dec 27 with my surgery date. I'd been approved on Dec 9, but BCBS didn't send me a letter, so I didn't have the wait a lot of people have (waiting for a date after getting approval). Heck, when they called with my date I thought I was still waiting for approval!
Hope to get to know you better!
Amy
