BIOTIN
I think it's pretty individual on how well it works for people. Some seem to think it is great, and some say it does nothing. I don't know. That's just a consensus from my observations here over 2 years. I would say, that I have never seen anyone say it's harmful, so If you want to take and try it, why not?
For me, when I had my RNY, I didn't know about Biotin and boy did I lose hair! I complained about it to the nuts and that was when they told me about biotin. I started using it and within 2-3 weeks I quit losing. I have been a constant taker of it every since. So..~4 years, 9 surgeries after the RNY one... I do start to lose hair about 3-4 months after each surgery..which I'm coming up on that from the hernia one.. but..if you put all the hair I've lost from all the other 9 surgeries in one pile and all the hair I lost from the RNY in another pile, the RNY pile would be WAY larger! So yes, I'm definately sold on Biotin! Sherri

I lose hair like a mad woman all the time normally, and I can't tell right now if it's normal or not. I'm taking biotin, but my poor hairbrush is full every morning, and I shed all day. It looks as if I don't have too many thin spots, though I'm seeing more paleness in the area of my bangs than I would like too. I don't have any patches since my hair was super thick to start with. I just can't tell if I'm replacing the hair that I'm losing. I agree on the hair everywhere else. That stuff is growing like weeds. I have to shave much more frequently and religiously pluck/wax the facial hair.
