I'm confused, what kind do you use? and do you have to take anything extra with it?

You are right, it is calcium citrate. When I was taking it I took 2 a day and then I take 2 chewable Flintstones and a vitamin B12 dot.  I was taken off the calcium because of the kidney stones and I was taken off the Flintstone with iron because of the sevre diareha.  I hope that helps.

I just opened my last box of Creamy Bites.  When they are gone, I will use the Bariatric Advantage lozenges.  The Clarian dietician said to use 3 per day.  It is my understanding that Bariatric Advantage has bought the rights to Creamy Bites and will have them on the market this fall.  I hope to switch back to them at that time.  I take other vitamins that I need, but nothing specifically with or because of the calcium.  ~Bev

Yep, it's calcium citrate.  I've tried a liquid Bluebonnet brand that I DID NOT like and I couldn't force myself to drink it.  I'm still not far out from surgery, so I don't have a lot of options but the nutritionist said I could take Citracal Petites.  I like those so much better because I can swallow the pill whole.  I have to take 7 pills every day, which sounds like a lot, but you can take them two at a time (5-10 min apart) so it's not as hard as it sounds.  Anyway, I got mine at Walgreens.  It was about $13 for 200 pills, so the bottle lasts about 28 days.  These have vitamin D in them as well, so you wouldn't need to take extra.   You would still have to take a multivitamin (3 flinstones chewables daily) but not at the same time as the calcium, and you would still need b-12 and b-1.  I don't think I've forgotten anything...I hope this answers your question.  Melissa

Biotin you need to take Biotin for your hair.. Honestly. and yep you were right on track with the calcium citrate.. I accidently picked up carbonate this last month and Melissa pointed it out and I had to go get the citrate. Even after 3 years you can pick up the wrong bottle.. hehehe Best of luck to you... do the best you can because this is for the rest of your life.. starting a good habit will stay with you..Linda Kay

I use a powdered calcium citrate from Global Health Products (www.globalhp.com or by phone at 1-800-638-2870).  You can add it to beverages or food.  The "To Go Packs"  are very small volume and do not change the taste of your drinks or food, but contain 500 mg calcium and 250 IU of vitamin D (needed to help absorb the calcium).   You should take 500 mg doses of calcium at least 2 hours apart and at least 2 hours before or after multivitamins or iron supplements.  Your body can only absorb 500 mg of calcium at a time and if you take it at the same time as vitamins containing iron or iron supplements they bond together and you can't absorb either one. Also, BariatricAdvantage.com has bought the formula for the Citrical Creamy Bites and they are supposed to start producing a version of them in the fall.  So for all of us who loved them, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Hope this helps.
