Infected Incision 5 weeks after surgery? pic included
Can it really just now be infected? It has been fine all this time. And now I have noticed a small "hole" in the middle and red all around it. We are leaving for out of town on the 3rd and won't be bac****il Sunday. I hate St V's nurse line because they say up to 24 hours for a return call back and some times I don't get a call until the next day! That would be too late. I am paranoid about MRSA so I hope it is nothing serious! I am trying to figure out how to post a picture
These pictures are the best I could get. You can see the scab like thing in the middle and then all around it is red.
What do ya think?

my steri-strips didn't exactly work properly, so my incision scars are like huge holes instead of little lines. they looked a lot worse than that. i was told to put antibiotic cream on them, and they cleared right up. they also turned a little red before the scars fell off. i'd just put neosporin or bacitration on it. if it's gets nastier, call the doctor when you get back.
Hello! Congrats on your surgery! I haven't had the surgery yet, I'm currently doing prelims. However, I have had back surgery, and it was a rather nasty surgery. My incision on my back looked a lot like that. It was fine, I was just paranoid. You look like your healing very well! Hang in there, and once again congrats and good luck to you!
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, "I'll try again tomorrow."

It just needs some neosporin and tlc! I used butterfly bandaids to help hold the incision area together and not risk it pulling open and man did they work! They still allow air and medication to reach it, but keep that skin secred! My port revision scar looks 100% better than my original band scars did! The Dr even reopened the same scar on top of the port because it looked so bad so I could have a chance for it to have a better appearance!
Hello I am 4 weeks out tomorrow and I have had one site that is nasty. Mine is a whole and I called them also. They told me to boil it out with peroxide and then during the day put neosporin on it with a bandaid. It is actually getting better. I see the Dr tomorrow for my 1 month checkup and I am anxious to see what he has to say about it. Mine is not the big site its one of the little sites.
