Hey! Yes, I know it's very early. I can't sleep. Anyway, I'm pre op & have Cigna Open Access Plus. I don't know if all of that matters or not, it's still Cigna. They have hoops. I start my 6 month Dr. supervised diet on July 11th. I don't know how far along you are in the process. Have you already done the 6 months of diet & exercise? That's required for everyone with Cigna. You also have to make sure that the Dr's notes show the correct info. on every visit during those 6 months. Go to more forums, under weight loss related forums, go to insurance help, then type in & seach for Cigna. You'll find links to other post about cigna. I copied one of them for you. In this one a guy who worked for Cigna gives a link to the info. on the Cigna website about coverage & what is needed. That link is my new Bible so to speak. I'm hoping if I follow it and make sure that every t is crossed & every i dotted according to what they want, I'll be approved the first time. Good luck to you on this journey. I hope this helps.

Yes you will have to jump through hoops with CIGNA, I did not have all my t's crossed and my I's dotted and was denied the first time, took almost 10 months to get approval. I have CIGNA open access plan, make sure you do eveything they want the first time and maybe you wont have any trouble.  I have heard that CIGNA likes to denie you the first time and see how far you will push to have the surgery but not sure on that.  Good luck hang in there and keep pushing them, they will approve it in time.

I know this thread is probably closed but have to put in my two cents.  I have cigna open access plus and was approved in no time at all.  I had my 6 months in, my pshych evaluation, my lab, everything.  It was approved within a week of submittal.  I was even assigned a case worker who walked me through everything and still calls to check up on me.  It has been a great experience!  I even had to make my surgery date later because I couldn't work it into my schedule!  It really happened quickly for me.  Granted I had been trying for over 4 years with another insurance company but as soon as we were switched to cigna, things moved lickety split!  Hope things go as well for you!
