Surgery finally scheduled
Hello all,
I have monitored both this board, and the main one for months and months, occasionally asking questions, etc. It has been a very long journey for me, due to insurance delays, but I finally have a surgery date scheduled. I wil be having the RYN with Dr Throop through the St Mary's Bariatric Center in Evansville on Sept 10. I am sure that I will be asking many more questions, etc, throughout the coming year. I know that lots of people have had surgeries, both types, here in Evansville, and I sure wish that this area of the state had more people posting here. I try to attend local support meetings as often as possible, which is very helpful, also. Well, I just wanted to let everyone know that you may be seeing updates from me now. thanks, Cathy
Congratulations on finally getting your date! You have overcome the first hurdle of many more. Hope things go well for you, and yes, please keep us posted! Feel free to post more often, especially as your date gets closer! Welcome again, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Cathy, congratulations on getting the date for the start of your new and greatly improved new life.
Please post more often so we can get to know you and you us. We love having new beautiful faces on our board~and yours looks like what we have been waiting for.
I am going to be keeping you in my prayers for your surgery. May you have a undeventlful surgery and a quick and pain free recovery. May you medical staff also have knowledge and compassion for during their job of bringing you to your new life.
The time between now and then is going to go so fast. You may not think so yet but trust me it is going to be here in the blink of an eye.
Thanks to all of you for your great responses to my post! As I read on here, almost every day, I can tell that it is a group of quality people who truly care about each other. Everyone always seems to be there for anyone with problems, and you share your good times and your bad ones. I don't have any real "sisters", so I know this will be very helpful to me in the future. I think that I am very lucky to be having my surgery where I am, because the people who seem to have the worst professional advice and care are from other states. My surgeon just told me yesterday that when he goes to conferences, he runs into other doctors that should not be doing these surgeries. I know that sometimes it is impossible to live really close to your doctor and aftercare is more difficult, but from some of the letters that I have read on the main board, some poor people get off to a bad start. They eat foods way too soon, and have a very hard time getting information from their doctors or staff, so they are lucky to find help online. I am sure that I will be posting a lot more, as well as reading. Before getting this far, I just didn't feel like "one of the group!" I posted a little bit about me today, so look me up! My daughter-in-law, Amy, is a social worker for the EVSC school system, so she is off for the summers, and I only babysit during the school year. So I am trying to catch up on a lot of things before school starts again, and surgery time is here. These summer weeks fly by! I am very lucky that all of my children and grandchildren are close by and we all get together often. I will tell you guys way more than you want to hear, don't worry! LOL! I have been reading about the group who is headed for Holiday World, and I hope you have a very good time. It is, of course, just an hour or so away from me. The younger members of the family go there a lot, but Don and I don't do rides anymore, so it isn't really our thing now. One of my main exercise problems is that I can't swim, nor ride a bike, so that pretty much leaves walking! I usually turn that into shopping! So, anyway, I will be talking to everyone!
