Pre-Op Cravings
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site and am scheduled to have lap RNY on 7/9/08. I've been reading your messages of support and encouragement and thought I'd throw this question out to all of you.
I've been on a "liver reduction" diet since May 5th. Things were going well at first and the last time I was weighed on June 2nd, I was down 13.7 lbs.
The problem is that now I'm craving carbs like CRAZY and I can't get enough PEANUT BUTTER of all things. The diet is getting incredibly BORING and I'm terrified that I've gained weight eating more protein than vegetables. If my liver has grown larger, Dr. Mattar won't be able to do the surgery. My pre-op class is Tuesday and I'm not confident that the scale will show any further weight loss. Have any of you experienced this? Any suggestions about how I can deal with these cravings and stay on track??
I'd hate to wake-up post-op only to find out he had to abort the procedure.
Thanks!
Judy

Hi Juju.......remember to keep your eye on the prize..........throw that peanut butter away!! I occasionally have a Zone Perfect protein bar.....the chocolate peanut butter flavor and that really helps curb my carb cravings.
I just went out to dinner with a bunch of soccer parents and it was really hard not ordering a ****tail and then also not ordering a big ole juicy burger and fries. Instead, I had the salad bar and loaded up on all of that........I don't want Dr. M to take one look at my liver and change his mind!! And...it is harder being away from home than I thought. I have 2 more days of food and then clear liquids for 2 days........I know I can do it and so can you!!
Hugs!
Hugs.....
Michele
