Incision opening?

Hello everyone

I am currently 7 weeks out. One of my small incisions has opened. Has this happened to anyone and what did your doctor do about it. I was running a fever week and a half ago but by the time monday rolled around it was gone. Its been bothering me a little all week but just thought it was healing then this morning I woke up and it is open, a little red, and puss is coming out of it.

I do have a call into my doctors just waiting for a return call but was wondering what should I be prepared for. Do you think they will just leave it alone and let it close by itself? will I have to go to the hospital?

Thanks

Robin

Robin Dear,  I had the same thing happen in several areas. I did have a procedure  done in the office- so no hospital visits. I am glad you called the Drs.- get in as soon as you can! They will probably put you on antibiotics, as well. I am praying for you. Keep me posted- I am here for you. Love ya,

Hello I am currently about 3 weeks out (next Wed) I have 2 of my little incisions that are open as well.  It is open with red and puss as well.  I called the Dr's office and they told me to put peroxide on it and let it bubble and get some air.  Then during the day to put neosporin on it with a bandaid.  One is almost healed now and the other is getting better.  I sure hope yours gets better. My incision where they put the port in (which was largest) opened up after the placement and healed horribly. I lost my steri strips after 3 days and tried using bandaids, but they would not stick as well as steri strips. It took forever to heal and close. Then I went for my revision and he opened up the same incision and I decided to take precautions. I bought butterfly bandages and used them to hold the incision closed yet it still allowed it to have air and neosporyn get to it. My incision is healed now and just a very thin line. I had no re-openings and am thrilled with the outcome. I looked at buying the steri strips, but the pharmacist suggested the butterfly because they hold better and are able to allow the air and medication to still be applied!  Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone for your answers. Doctors Inmans office didn't get back with me until 12:30 and by then I was gone so I am going to try your suggestions. It is starting to scab over so maybe it isn't so bad. If it gets worse I can always try recalling them Monday.

Thanks again

Robin
