Long time no see

Hi Everyone! How is it going? My thoughts and prayers are with those who have had flood damage. My backyard was a pond. Tomorrow I am goin to Indy to see Dr. Aker. I have a consult for an arm lift and breast augmentation. I wish I could just get all the procedures I want done at once, but that would be too much. What i was wondering was what goes on in a consult? any info would be greatly appreciated! Also, the last couple of weeks I have had bad acid reflux, and more recently chest pains too. Dr. Evanson's nurse got me on protonix and still no relief. If not better by tomorrow, she thinks I should have a scope. I know some of you have had scopes before, but did you have them bc of reflux?  Thanks everybody! hugs

Amanda,                 It's good to see that you are doing so well. It' will be good to get yourself checked out just to be sure that it is acid reflux that is bothering you. Other things can have those same symptoms. I've been lucky in that I haven't had any acid reflux at all since my RNY. I had just assumed it was because the acids in the stomach were blocked from being able to come back up into my esophagus. A scope should be able to verify what is or isn't going on though. Now..them...I know about! LOL! If acid refulx is not confirmed, don't be suprised if you aren't referred to a cardiologist just to be on the safe side. I have read that for women, cardio problems can have a wide variety of symptoms..including mimicing acid reflux. With you having chest pains too...yep, probably a good idea to get it checked out.                                As to the plastics...I'm sure each plastic surgeon has their own way of doing things. I know the two I went to did. The one I went with...Dr. Bergman...starts off by having you watch a mini-clip on each procedure you are interested in having. Then she came in and talked with Bill & I so that we are all on the same page as to what procedures I wanted and in what order..and which ones she recommended. Then she left the room so I could get on the robe & paper panties. While I was doing that..she let the office staff know which procedures so that they could get an estimate of cost ready for me. When Dr. Bergman returned to my room, she examined the loose skin and gave me an estimate of my breast size then (it's even smaller now!) if I just had a breast lift. Then she took pics of everything. After I was re-dressed, their office rep came in and we talked about the cost estimate. There, they will try to get the insurance to cover some charges (for me, the tummy tuck portion was paid for). If you have more than 1 procedure done, they also knock off 10% off of one of them. That was it. After the insurance approved the TT, surgery was scheduled. Oh..for the girls, you should have to get an up-to-date mammagram done. Very important! For me, it picked up calcium deposits. I had to wait on getting them done to be sure that was what those spots were...that they didn't grow or anything. That's why I got a thigh lift done along with the TT/abdo instead. Dr. Bergman is approximately $4,000 for each procedure (plus the cost of the sugery center, special garments, implants). You'll find that varies alot from surgeon to surgeon too. The other one I consulted with was about 4 times as expensive and REFUSED to try to get the insurance to pay a dime.                             Best of luck! Sherri
