Are you having LAP Band or RNY.  If RNY, is it going to be lap. or open?  Have they told you how long you will be in the hospital for?

I am having Lap. RNY and they said on the average you stay around 3-4 days BUT your stay could be as short as  leaving the next day if you are up walking and doing fine. Im goingt o walk, walk, walk..so I can come home earlier!!!  I should hear something about my surger date this week....!!!!  The also told me that Dr. Clark ONLY does Lap. RNY's, no opens!! When is your surgery???

I am attending the all day seminar on the 15th and hopefully will be able to set my date then?  Thinking that it will be closer to the end of December Do you know if they send you home with a binder?  I have read several posts where people refer to that saying that it is more comfortable to cough etc. while wearing that. Am a little concerned that I may not be able to have Lap. RNY due to my rather high BMI as well as the fact that when I had my gall bladder removed about 10 years ago it was done "the old fashioned way" not laparasopically so I have about an 8" scar and don't know if scar tissue will be an issue.  I wonder what he does if he plans on Laparscopic RNY and is unsuccessful and has to do an open? I just went out and bought a treadmill so plan on using that as soon as it is delivered and then when i get home.  So many people talk about "gas pains" after the surgery so i figured that if they were really bad in the midlle of the night I could just get up and walk!  Plus I can walk in the privacy of my own home.  Keep me posted and Good Luck!

I wasn't required to be on a liquid diet or to loose weight per Dr Clark because I was already on the process of changing my food and eating over to something wls friendlier and loosing weight via that. In the beginning of my process I weighed 317 lbs but by the time I had surgery I weighed in (on surgery day) 277 lbs. I think (pretty sure) that because I was doing that and loosing Dr Clark just didn't feel the need to say anything or it could have been because I was having the band and not the bypass. Who knows - I never thought to ask. Nancy is a doll to work with. As well is Janet too. My insurance no longer pays for me to go to to St Francis's center, only Dr Clark's personal office, for my office visits and fills. I sure do miss seeing everyone there at the center. Lots of nice helpful people. Good Luck Jodi P.S. Thanks for the "Congrats". My pregnancy is one of the main reason why I choose to have WLS. To loose weight, control my PCOS, and have another child. Now if he would just quite holding my uterus hostage and get the heck out!
