Bless her heart!  She has had a rough go around.  I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers for an answer to her problems and a speedy recovery.  Thank you for letting us know.

My step mom called late last night.  Misty's fever has dropped to around 102-103. They want to put in a G-tube, but they need to see what happens at this point. The seizures have stopped and is she is considered "stable" now.   Are these types of complications common?

Dianne, Thank you for the update. No, complications like Misty's are not common. That's not to say that there aren't complications that are fairly common. Ulcers and strictures are two of the most common complications. Usually with each of those, a few endoscopies and/or a round or two of prevacid & carafate and you are good to go. Some people, like Misty...like myself.. have the challenge of getting through odd-ball ones. And if you're concerned that since Misty had problems, would you...not neccesarily. My sister had her RNY a year before me and other than a vitamin deficiency (which she brought on herself by not taking her vitamins), she has had no problems at all.

I will be praying for Misty. I hope she gets well very soon and that they find out just what is going on with her so they can get it fixed.
