Dianne, Thank you for the update. No, complications like Misty's are not common. That's not to say that there aren't complications that are fairly common. Ulcers and strictures are two of the most common complications. Usually with each of those, a few endoscopies and/or a round or two of prevacid & carafate and you are good to go. Some people, like Misty...like myself.. have the challenge of getting through odd-ball ones. And if you're concerned that since Misty had problems, would you...not neccesarily. My sister had her RNY a year before me and other than a vitamin deficiency (which she brought on herself by not taking her vitamins), she has had no problems at all.
