Missy,  You have just had MAJOR surgery- and it will take TIME to feel better- the first 6 weeks out are the hardest- then things seems to roll along well.It is understandable to be achy, tired, listless, bored, worried, and frustrated trying to live a new way of life.Remember, we are changing lifestylr/lifetime habits- some hang on for dear life & some are pretty easy to do- just keep trying.  I had little or no energy for the frist 2 months- that's understandable since I had done very little activity before surgery, weighed 271# ,5'3", and walking with a cane. I was tired most of the time & had to work ast even getting my protien & water in~ so don't stop what you know is going to help. Even if it took hrs. I sipped, & sipped..  Ask for help whenever you need it- from your family & others.Do you have a support system( mine was the women of my church who fixed Dana meals, & came to clean my house once every 2 weeks ofr the first 2 months). If you can DELEGATE- DO SO!!! AGAIN, THINK OF IT AS HEART SURGERY OR ANY OTHER MAJOR SURGERY- IT TAKES TIME TO RECOVER!!! Vent all you want- we have been down the road you are on now, and can say that truly it does get better-  we are here for you!! In a few months you'll look back & wonder where you got all of your energy from! (((hugs))) Ellen

I'm sorry you're having a rough time. You aren't the same as you were when you went in, so you're not going to feel "normal" - or what you perceived as normal. You have to accept that you had major surgery and your body needs to recover. You need to rest; walk; sip your water... You won't get it all in every day, I know I didn't. Your body has to regain its strength. There is nothing you can do, but accept that. You are going to be exhausted for a few weeks. Lay down when you need to, even if only for a 15 min. nap. I had my R-Y back in October 2006. I was very tired and sore for the first 2 weeks, then it started to ease up on me, both the pain as well as the exhaustion, but honestly it took about 1 month or so to be able to stay awake all day... then I wa**** in May 07 with complications from a "routine" ovary/fallopian/cyst removal... it was anything but routine afterwards. I ended up with 3 additional surgeries because of an infection that ate away the fashia (spelling) - which is the last layer of skin in the body (keeps the internal organs away from the body cavity). This surgery drained me... hell, all 4 of them in less than a month would drain anyone. The last surgery was June 8 and I am finally able to return to a normal routine, where I don't feel like someone suddenly flipped a switch and turned off my energy. You have to realize... You need to rest. You will be "normal" again.... In time. *hugs*

Naps are the norm the first couple months.. but dont forget to get up and walk.. it will help build your energy back up.. It WILL get better take it from us who have been out a lot longer... Enjoy the rest n ow because when you h ave lost your weight you will be to busy to sit down!! Linda Kay

You really need to get your proteins in or you will be exhausted.  Proteins and fluids are the key.   Take naps, sip, walk, rest and give it some time!!  I know you feel terrible but ask yourself "what can I do to help myself get better?"  If you still can't get fluids in, call surgeon's office.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time right now. You just did have major surgery a couple of weeks ago though. You're going to feel tired and sore for a while. That was true for me of my RNY, and also my C-Sections (3 of them all together!) Don't expect to get all your fluids and protein at first, but try to get in as much as you can. You prolly need more than 20 oz of water at this point, a couple weeks out, to stay hydrated.  Come to us for support, we're here for you!

All the comments are because the people on here love you.  You will feel bad for a time.  Sometimes that time is set by ourselves and other times by the situation.  Get a SUPPORT PERSON involved.  See a therapist and ask for meds to help if they think it will help. An earlier post you say you are smoking again.  That can't help, nicotine is a cruel master and will change your system. Please if your stomach is going through hoops it is because it is not happy with what you put in it or if a consistent problem get back to ST. V's for help to see if an issue came up. Fluid intake will come along with the protein. Hang in there and make changes because it is needed.  I never thought I would see the day i did not eat bread.  It has been 4 months and I still don't want it and don't try it because I could abuse the use of it.  A nice juicy hamburger sounds good but it is too early for that.  I have learned to love baked or broiled fish and it is my flesh of choice for now.  I buy a bag of potato with the smallest ones in it so I can have a whole potato it is just a visual thing. I can not stress that any exercise is going to help.  Get up and "Just Do It " before you know it you will be walking 3 to 5 miles a day.  You become more spontaneous and willing to go places just to window shop or friends houses to see the new you.  I like to carry a clipboard to the door and they thing I am trying to sell something.  I start talking and they look like the RCA dog ****ing their head and knowing they recognize the voice but can't place the name. Hang in there put God in charge and He will provide. E
