One of the ladies who had surgery at St Vincents the same day as me named Jackie Weber was such a blessing and encouragement. Everytime I walked by her room (which was next to mine) shed yell out and hollar and cheer me on.  When she finally got out of bed and what not she was in the family lounge on the bariatric floor. She was soo full of  joy and it really showed. Some of you girls who were in at the same time as me probally remember her too. Three days after she was released from the hospital she ended up with a small bowel rupture and her whole body went septic and shes been fighting for her life in the surgery ICU at St Vincent's ever since. Her family is from around South Bend and her husband Butch has been camping out in the lounge on the med/surg floor (floor 3) for the 2.5 weeks that she has been there. Doctors aren't giving a very good prognosis one day and the next they say maybe. Butch is a bad diabetic (on 4 meds) and everything and I worry about him eating properly and his overall health. I had my follow up today with Dr Cacucci and we stopped up and talked to him for about 30 mins and he's just really tired and wore out. Jackie is fighting hard and they are going to try and see if she wakes up soon.  Please keep this family in prayer and if you are at St V's I'm sure Butch could use someone to talk to if you have the time. It seemed like it really lifted his spirits to have someone to talk to being so far from home.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend.  I saw you yesterday in Dr. Caccuci's office and knew right away who you were!  How did your check up go?  I am sure all will be praying hard for Jackie.

II'm praying for them both. This isn't easy, & there are complications, but God does see us thru them all. Please keep us posted, & let Jackie & Butch know we are praying. ((prayers & hugs))) Ellen
