Hi there. Well, i'm a newbe too. date is hopefully aug 10 or very close to there. I had to have another "test". I will know on tuesday for sure. I feel the same way. it has been so long and now coming down to the wire. I am excited, but i am terrified too. I can't wait and I hope it takes it's time. Are you on a full liquid diet before surgery? My surgeon requires it two weeks before surgery. Starting today. This is a real challenge for me. You are a bit younger than I am, but my kids are 31,30,29,25 . I am three years younger than your mother would have been. Just to let you know, it is ok to be scared, ambivilant, hapy and sad. these are all normal emotions going thru this. Just remember everything passes. You asked what do they do the day of surgery? do you have a support group where you are having your surgery? you should deffinatly look into that. What about your pre and post surgical diet. Since I am pre op, I cannot help you with actual events. you will have surgery before me. Maybe you can tell me how it is. Love and Prayers Marsha

Hi Missy. Have you done all you pre- op and Nutrition class. I'm 18 months post now so I don't know if they hae changed much. I just had to do liguid diet for 24 hrs before. The day of surgery I went to St. V did all the check in. They did recheck one blood test before surgery. They take tyou to a little room and you get to dress in the pretty (NOT) gowns and footies. The nurse come in to do your vitals. The anisthesilogist comes into to talkt to you and Dr. Evanson comes by before you go back. They have you walk back to surgery and get on the table yourself. IT IS FREEZING IN THERE. Soon they start your IV and you are in LA LA land. The next thing I rembered was being in my room asking if they got the plate number off the truck that hit me. It is rough at first but you have to trust them and get up and walk and sip when ever you can. Evanson is a fantastic surgeon and so nice to talk to. You'll appreciate that more when you get to post op visits. You'll do great. You are close to me kind of. May meet you at the Ft. Wayne support group some time.
