OHHHHHHHH Grandmasue....thanks so much for posting...makes me feel sooooooooo much better!  you hang in there and I hope I do as well as you! Yes the walking is gonna be an ordeal I am sure...but I know I can do it!  My hubby plans on being with me.

sherri congrats on 3 years smokefree!!! you are so right about the willpower it takes. I am on chantix and it works wonderfully...but there are still times...especially the first 2 weeks where I wanted a smoke real bad.

Lord, keep me in your will so I won't be in your way.

heh i had my preop testing today! Fun fun fun.. I have Dr Cacucci and my surgery is next Tuesday. Wow... The blood work and everything was simple. The worst part for me was the upper GI..... oh it was awful lol I've had them before and I don't know what the problem was but today it took everything I had to hold it in lol. Afterwards I actually got sick when I left the hospital, for some silly reason I wanted to be out of the doors of the hospital before doing so. Weird but anyways. There was nothing to it, except for the barium.

Thanks so much my "Indiana Posse"              for helpin me out with this.  I have never had any surgery where there was pre-op so was just wondering. I have never had any tests either except for blood work so I didn't have a clue about pre-op. I get the drift that barium really sucks..so once the barium is down...what next?  I KNOW I am gonna be 50 and seem so naive about medical stuff...but I have never been thru anything like this. I have had 2 back surgeries and a knee surgery plus 2 c-sections...none of which constituted pre-op except blood and chest xray.

St V's gives you an little schedule to follow (even though each department escorts you to the next)  My doc required that I have : Preop blood workup and urine specimen, then I went to Cardiopulmonary for an EKG and Pulmonary function tests, then I went and spoke to a nurse and she basically just asked if i had any questions, which I did not sooooo she just explained again where I come in at, what to expect the morning of etc, Then they whisked me away to radiology where I had an ultrasound of my tummy where they check your liver, pancreas and gall bladder, then chest Xray and then off to my fun little upper GI.  I think thats really the gist of it, some are made to do stress tests and stuff but I wasn't one of them.

Yup !! all of it in about 3 hours this morning!! The only thing I would have changed was to have all my tests that need to be fasting done first so that I could have atleast had a cup of water while waiting between tests.
