New Here

Greetings Everyone, This is my first post here, so I just wanted to say hello!  My wife, Terrapinmama, and I are both planning on having gastric bypass surgery.  This is something we have been working on since last September.  Actually, she just got the call from our insurance company today saying she is approved, so she should be scheduling her surgery soon.  Unfortunately some of my paperwork didn't come through in the fax from my doctor's office, so they said it might be another week or so for me.  Currently we're both doing our pre-op diet which basically consists of protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, and then a very sensibly portioned dinner.  It actually seems pretty similar to the Atkins diet, and we've tried this, so it's not too bad so far. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.  Any other Terre Hautians about?

I live in Indy, but wanted to say hello.  I don't post often, but have found everyone on this board to be so friendly and helpful.  Welcome, I look forward to hearing more from you and your wife as you progress through your journey.  I know it's the best decision I ever made for myself.

If there's any ?? that you have or comments, etc., please feel free to post them on here. We're a pretty friendly group I think...but then, I'm partial to the Hoosier Losers! LOL! Welcome new friends.  I live up in Kokomo but I try and make myself to anyone on this board.  I had my surgery back on Nov 5, 2005 and I am now half the man I use to be, going from 450 to my current weight of 225. This is a great place to find support and have questions answered.  My journey has been so much easier by the support of the wonderful people on the board.   Dan

Welcome to the Indiana board.  These are a great group of people and we get together quite often for different functions like clothing exchange, hot tub party, pool party, camping weekend, christmas ornament exchange, etc.  Hope we get to meet you at one of them.  Pool party is coming up on June 30th. My wife and I both had gastric bypass surgery in April 2006, 11 days apart.  We moved to Indiana late last year and this group of people became our closest friends.  You'll feel like a part of a great family in no time. Hello, My husband and I are going to have WLS together also. We are going through a 6 months doctor supervised weight loss program. Down with one and 5 more to go. Wish us luck on getting approved. We've done everything else the insurance asked us to do. Hopefully they won't spring something else on us. Congrats on your wife getting approved. Sure you will be close behind. I haven't lived in Terre Haulte. I do have a lot of family their. I am from Muncie but now live in New Castle. Good Luck, Terri
