Who determines your goal weight number? Is there one special chart. Is it your goal? Your surgeon's goal for you?

I set my own goal that I want to obtain, it's about 10lbs more that the doc wants for me. I think they use a chart of some kind ( I know there's a fancy name for the chart, can't remember it though). I'll be happy at 165 (I'm 5'9" and that's OK for me). go with what you feel comfortable, unless you like your doc's # better. Hope

Shellye, At no time has my surgeon stated a goal weight for me. I think they consider a loss of 75% of what you are overweight as a success (75 lb for every 100 lb you are over). In that case, I've met that goal. I set my goal however as the center of the ideal BMI for my height...plus 20lb. The plus 20 is to allow for plastics...so when it is done, I'll be where I want to be and no underweight. You can check your BMI and figure out what your ideal BMI range would be..I think on the Home page on here. Sherri

Shellye, Couldn't find it on here, but here's a good site: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm It goes into pretty good detail about BMI on there. Sherri
