I am trying to help my friend with some research. She has M Plan and would like to know if anyone out there has been approved for WLS recently (within the past year) and for what procedure? Thanks, Lyndia

Hi Lyndia~ I personally no longer have M-Plan but I know 2 people who do and they were both approved for Lap RNY. And both had their surgery in the past 2 years. I understand that M-Plan changed their requirements for the surgery; when I was insured with them 4+ years ago they didn't cover it. They finally realized that covering the surgery will most likely save them money in the long run. You can search for M-Plan details on the Insurers page and look for recent information on coverage. Good luck for your friend! Jaimee

I was approved by M-Plan and had a Lap RNY in October '06. It took jumping through lots of hoops, a written appeal, and a personal appeal hearing but I got it. Best of luck. Annette

Yes, i have M-Plan, to go through with the surgery you have to wait 6 months, 6 visits with pcp doctor,6 visits with dieation, and 18 support group visits. And after that M-Plan will most likely approve.

Thank you so much for all of your help! I will let her know that she should continue with pursuing WLS and that M Plan does cover it. Since I have had to deal only with CIGNA I didn't know anything about M Plan. Thanks again!!
