Well, Dr. Inman's office called today. Something doesn't look right on the EKG so I have been scheduled on Wed. afternoon back down in Indy for a stress test. They are prepared to do it either on the treadmill or chemically. They will decide once I get there. Then Vikki called back about 30 min later and said my blood work showed that I am now diabetic. One of my tests was definitely not what they wanted and was very close to postponing my Dec 20 surgery. I have to see primary care doc tomorrow after school. I have been hitting the sugar pretty hard so is it possible that these numbers are up because of that? If I am at risk for having surgery next week, then I am willing to do whatever I need to do to get myself in better condition to have a successful surgery. Please just pray that if I am supposed to be postponed, I will be, but at the same time if this is God's will right now for me, then help me to have the patience to accept His plan for me right now. As you can imagine, today has been a pretty teary day for me. I'll keep you updated. Since I know I have to be in Indy on Wed. I will try to get in to visit Gail. I am so glad that it sounds like the right doctors are involved now. I am not sure I would have much confidence in Dr. K at this point. Also did I understand correctly??? that Mary Brown is getting married soon? Awesome! Thanks for letting me share. Karen

Karen, Dr. Inman is a wonderful doctor. She won't do the surgey unless she feels confident that you are healthy enough to have it. From all I've read about her, I wouldn't think twice about putting myself in her hands. My dad also had to have the cardio tests pre-op and they ended up fine. With the sugar, if it was enough to cause concern, I doubt if it was the 'right now' results, but probably the one that shows your average over a given time. Jus****ch the sugars and carbs. Thank you for calling me tonight. I'm sorry it wasn't for a happy occation. I appreciate your thinking to call me. Sherri

Karen, I am so sorry to hear of your new bumps, at least they have looked at it and trying to get everything on the right track before going in for the surgery, postponement is not fun, as you know I have been there. With that said, it is better to be safe. My thoughts are with you for a happy ending to your new findings! Ok, as you know , Mary has passed, she will be missed! For those that didn't know Mary, she was madly in love with Dr. E, she jokingly had said they were getting married and had taken a pic with him at the St. V party last week and had joked that this was their engagement pic, she thought the world of him. We will never forget Mary, and can always remember her story of marrying Dr. E, may this be a good memory for those of us that had talked with Mary and knew how much she Loved this doc! If you need to talk, drop me a line! Hugz Dawn

I have alot of trust in Dr. Inman. She will take good care of you. Just do what you need to do, and they will get you taken care of. I wouldn't think high blood sugar would postpone the surgery really. Alot of people who are diabetic get surgery, to help the diabetes. My blood sugar started running high about a month before surgery, and I was still able to go in on time. You'll do great. Linda Vicory

The doctor I saw for my pre-op testing said that I had an abnormal EKG and sent me to a cardiologist. When I saw the cardiologist he said that it was normal and because I have had chemo in the past, he wanted to do a stress test. I was really lucky because he fit me in the same day and gave me the results after it. Everything was normal. What I'm trying to say is maybe you'll have the same results since our situations are similar. Either way I will be praying that everything goes well for you.
