:help: Little Nervous
I am about a year and a half out from my RNY. I have lost approximately 190lbs.. I fin myself being able to eat more than i think i should. I am not sure if i am eating to much or not, but here is an idea of a meal that i just had. My wife and i went out to eat at mexican place to eat, and i had approximately 15 tortila chips and salsa, then my wife and i always order fajita's so i had approximately 3/4 of a chicken fajita. does this sound like to much to people?? I feel full at that point.. just nervous i am over doing it... any insight would be great!!
Brandon,
I'm about 8 months further out than you are so thought I'd take a shot at this. I find that my appetite and what I can eat varies greatly day to day..and especially meal to meal. It all depends on what the meal is sometimes. My fahita choice is shrimp. Love them! If we have the order take out....so no chips & salsa...I usually get 2 meals out of it. 3 if we have it at the restaurant. If we go to an oriental buffet, I eat more. If we go to a sit down place, I usually eat my salad, and then pick at my food & bring most of it home. Tonight for dinner, I ate about 4 bites of a meatball sub. Last night, I got down about 4" of it. It just varies.
Let me ask..are you gaining any weight back? No? Then you probably aren't eating too much. If in doubt, ask your dietician how many calories you should be getting in and then do a reality check and keep track of what you are eating for a week or so. There are many good sites for doing that: Sparkpeople, Fitday, CalorieKing. You probably aren't getting in as many as you think you are. I had foot surgery on the 3rd and it's served as a reality check for my hubby. He thought I was eating more & more. Then it got where I had to depend on him to bring me all of my food and now he sees how little I really do eat. I pick. I'll get 8 pretzels (1 serving) and eat 1 about every 30 minutes or so. He now knows that is 1 serving of them..not 8. LOL.
Good luck & you are welcome to jump on here anytime!

those chips have been known to get me in trouble...like a salad i can do more than a cup, or soup....try a cup of cottage cheese and see how much of that you can eat....thats a test to see, how much u can eat....a cup of cottage cheese i can not finish...at least a few bites left.....and i am 26 months out...same as sherry....though she has had a revision, so not sure how much that changes things for her...she has done great though.....and you know one time you seem to eat more than another...
Hey Brandon! This is totally off topic but I looked at your profile and saw you are a dispatcher and reserve officer! So is my boyfriend. He works for Han**** County as a dispatcher and then is a reserve in New Palestine.
I am only 5 months post op but I have those same days where I feel like I can/do eat too much. So I am not too much help other to say its something I battle with too!
Sam

Lol.. nothing is to off the topic!! I am just getting into this whole message boarding thing and i hope this helps me out more with m y journey!! Yeah i have been dispatching for about 6 years now, and i am finally just at te weight and physical condition where i can try and apply for an officer position full time!! I know when i go out and work the road as a reserve it is just a tease to me to get to do that and not be doing it full time! I am actually awaiting a decision from Decatur County on a Full time position, i had the interview last week!! So wish me luck!! And it was good hearing from you and stay in touch!!

Ohh Good Luck on the Road Position! Eric just loves working the road in New Pal. He's got the most drunks and tickets written of all the officers!!
Speaking of Decatur County, that escaped convict was caught at my apartment complex!! Just another reason we need to MOVE!
Good Luck and let me know how it goes!

Opps I thought I replied earlier but it must not have gone through...We have found a house, great little 3 bedroom, 2 bath in Greenfield. Lots up updates and very little work needs to be done to it. We made an offer today so hopefully we should hear something tomorrow. Cross your fingers for us!!
Now getting out of our lease at our apartments is another thing we are currently battling....grrrrr
