Please pray for my angelette!!!! GAIL OWENS
Hi everyone, Gail just came home from the hospital on Wednesday evening, she is no better, she is not able to keep anything down even fluids and her incision is leaking puss and blood mixtures quite a bit from the sounds of it! Her surgeon never did have a wound specialists come and take a look, so she is very scared and upset it has been a tough 5 weeks for her and her family! They are worried and concerned, I have suggested that she call an on call doc and talk with her PCP about a wound specialist! I have no other suggestions, since I have not been through this or heard of it, please anyone that has any suggestions and ideas please let me/us know!
I am so concerned and not sure what to do, other than offer support and be hear with a listening ear so she can shed her tears and be heard, unfortunately I have no answers but would like to ask all of you once again for your thoughts and prayers for my dear friend!!!!
Thanks everyone for helping me with not only this but with all of my requests in the last few weeks, you all are a great support and I truly appreciate your well wishes!
Gail does too!
Please post here, and/or on her surgery page!

It makes me so sad to hear that Gail is having such a hard time, she's such a great lady. It also makes me angry that she sat in the hospital all that time and no one bothered to have a wound care specialist take a look at the problem, and then they released her with no improvment in her condition (if I'm understanding what you're saying anyway). If insurance is not a problem, personally I'd be seeing another doctor until I got some answers. Not even that it'd have to be the answers I wanted, but to just let someone sit like that is uncalled for
Get well soon Gail, we miss you bunches!

Thanks Darrah! Yep she was released basically without any improvements, that is how I am receiving the info! Hopefully her PCP will get her in touch with a wound specialist! I am not sure as to why her surgeon didn't, I know she was on a high amount of antibiotics but if it is still open and oozing, it doesn't sound right to me either! Then to not be able to eat or drink on top of it, well she wouldn't be getting in the protein she needs to help heal, let alone fluids to stay hydrated! I thought she had said she was able to keep things down at the hospital, but when I spoke with her tonight she said no not really, they had her on the banana bags of IV fluids at St. V.
I hope she is better soon, she was so looking forward to becoming a loser and getting on with her new happy journey! I am wishing her the best, thanks for your thoughts and prayers as well!
How are you doing? Hope things are going alright! If you need anything or an ear to talk to, let me know!

Sorry to hear about Gail I'm thinking of her. Is she on antibiotics? Did they do a culture and is her wound open to drain. My father had a wound infection from bowel surgery and they had to open the incision (sp?) and let it heal from the inside out. We had to put gauze in the wound and change it a couple of times a day, it took about a month to heal.

Cheryl,
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers! She was given a high dose of antibiotics in the hospital, I am not sure what meds she is on at home! I know she said they were calling her in some nausea medicine tonight. She is so upset, emotionally this has taken a toll on her, let alone she is scared and very worried! She is such a sweet person and was so ready to begin her journey and become a healthy loser! Thanks for taking the time to to think of her, she appreciates all of the love and support that she gets from her OH family!!!!As far as her drain being opened up to heal from the inside out, I am not sure about that, she just said they told her to not be sitting up or up walking to lie down as much as possible, because when she is up it opens up more and has a bunch of leakage!I will be calling again tomorrow to check on her! I will post again, then!

well crap......does not sound right they would send her on home...maybe they can tell it is better, heck if i know...maybe the oozing is still getting poisons or infection out and part of the healing process? for her sake i sure hope so...so i know she wants to get on with being a loser.....this is only a little bump in the road and things will get better...i know it has to be so hard for a loser with problems....though i was not one of them, Ed was....so i know some of issues he had and he had some major ones..was horrid seeing him on life support....
prayers for Gail to get this in her past and to get on to being a loser....
Thanks Angie for posting...she is still miserable, I just hung up with her, she is thinking of going back to the hospital...still getting sick with the dry heaves, since she isn't able to keep anything down to actually get sick... I asked her what her surgeon said while she was in there last week, she said he said he didn't know what was wrong with her WTF! I told her I thought maybe it would be best for her to go back, that way they could at least get her food /fluids with an IV111I will let everyone know when I hear more news!

Hi Dawn- When I got on to the board this morning, I saw the posting from Apple Pie. I saw hers before I saw yours. She had a link to get to Gail's surgery support page. I clicked on it and it took me to someone else's. I am pretty new to all of this so I may have done something wrong. Anyway, I posted the only way that I knew how to get to Gail's website. Those of you who have more experience on this board probably know a better way to get there, but I didn't want anyone who wanted to post some encouraging words for Gail to go to that other site, get frustrated, and give up. I am sure her family is very concerned and she has got to be terrified. I would think that calling in a wound specialist would be a no brainer. Sounds to me like she is not getting the proper care. She and her family have my prayers. Keep us informed. Karen
Thanks Karen,
I saw Apple Pies post as well, that is ok, Gail thinks the world of her, too and she needs all the support she can get right now, emotionally she is pretty down. She is thinking of going back to the hospital today, I just got off the phone with her. Told her that would probably be best so they could at least give her fluids to prevent dehydration. She had said her doc didn't know what was wrong with her WTF!!! Needs to be figuring it out, I hope she goes back and stays on them to get answers, I know she is pretty scared right now! Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, I will keep posting as I find out more! Hugz Dawn
