Sooo dissappointed
Got word from my insurance company today that I will need to have 6 months documented supervised weight loss program. At least 3 months consecutive and an additional 3. I submitted so much weight loss trial documentation with my claim, but all of it was in the past. I "technically" havent had any in the past 2 years although I have dieted off and on constantly and my dr was aware of it.
I have boo hooed enough now and plan to start a 3 month program with my dr ASAP and hope he will help me document the other 3 individual months from the past two years.
I had high hopes of having the surgery before Christmas....now I guess I will just have to suck it up and do what is needed.
Thanks for listening....just needed to vent!!

Linda, Im so sorry about your bad news. Im sure thats not easy to hear. Just remember at least there is hope insight. It wasnt a flat out denile or they didnt say they dont cover it. 3 months is better than the old ONE yr dr. diet ppl used to have to do.
Just enjoy the holidays and before u know it...that 3 months will be gone and you will be getting ready for your surgery.

As I always say.. "good things come to those who wait". During your supervised diet you will be shrinking your liver which is a must before surgery and us"fat people" have fat livers.. You will be starting 07 off with a bang..and who knows Valentines Day.. or there abouts could be the day you will LOVE forever!! Because you loved yourself enough to do something about it...3 months is a victory compared to the old 18 months... Or even EASTER time...a great time already documented for rebirth!!!
Get m oving with the Drs and get your months out of the way!! Dont forget to start your support groups too.. we have several people who come to our meetings still jumping hoops..

hi i'm new to this but seen what is happening to you and feel for you the same thing happen to me i tried for ten years, keep your chin up 3 months will fly by every pound you lose will help you recover faster, my mom had gastric, i had the lap band by the way my name is jennifer i have bipolar and i never had a issue with weight until i was put on my meds then i went from 110 to 245 i stayed there for 10 years i could not lose weight no matter what diet i tryed so finally in april i went to mexico and had lap band. I am on SSI for my bipolar they would not pay for my operation. I could not take the weight any more i am now down to 168 i would like to lose 30 more. all things have away of working themselves out . i will say a prayer for you. trust in the lord 3 months will fly by you been. good luck
hi
i had the lap band while my mom had the gastric bypass,
on the lap band you can have the band tighten ao loosen depending on weight loose if you are losing at a good pace then your band normally holds between 1.cc and 4.cc when you get to the weight you are waitng the band is left at that fill. If you begin to gain weight the band is tighten again, in the long run you always have the tool to keep you from gaining your weight back. The weight does not come off as fast as the other surgery the risks are alot less you are only in the hospital for a few days they don't cut on your stomach, if there is a reason that comes up you can have it removed. Unlike the gastric with this one you loose very quick but alot of people gain alot of weight back in five years there alot of complications with this surgery and once the weight is back you don't have anyother options like you do with the lap band. my mom wishes she had the lap band. she has only put on 22 pounds in 3 years but she is back to watching and dieting
. at the time of the meeting to learn about the two option the gastric sounded like the way to go, but i love having the lap band i do it again, now that i am not vomting, since i am eating small bites and chewing my food really good i have lose 62 pounds since the end of april. which ever you do choose i'm sure you'll be happy.
