vomitting up slim all the time
i had my lap band april 27 2006, i had a fill 11 weeks later Dr. Evanson had me wait 2 weeks and come back when i was able to eat the same, he said the band was to loose, so he filled the band again, that was august 16. I have went from 220 to 169 but the thing is i am vomitting up lots of slim i have lots of trouble with food and keeping solids down. I thought the more i lost the bigger my pouch became and i would be able to keep more food down but i am not able to. Somedays i can and somedays i can't. I'm drinking ensure for vitaims and i take b12 and i try to drink lots of water, and i try to get food down. I'm really worried about what to do can someone give some advice please.
Jennifer,
It sounds like you might be just a tad bit tight. Have Dr Evanson take out a little bit of your fill and it should feel much better. Sometimes it only takes .1cc to make a difference. It's
that such a small amount would do that, but from talking to others on the Lapband board, that's what usually works. Good Luck!

Jennifer,
Im confused. I didnt think they made a pouch when u got a lap band. You stated that u thought your pouch would get bigger. Im wondering if u arent confusing info on the RNY or another procedure with info on the lap band??
I thought that with the lap band u still have your entire stomach intact. I could be wrong. I hope u fill better soon.

No - there is a pouch when you get banded. It's your orginal stomach divided (where it is naturally) between the holding area where the food enters (top half) and then the area where the food starts it's break down process into the intestines (the lower half). The band is inbetween and controls how fast the food is "allowed" to be absorbed and allowing the nerves to function sadiation.
No problem sharing info. It's one of the things I actually like to do - providing banding info - so never be afraid to approach me with a question. Don't know if I'm the lapBand info Queen -hahahahaha - but thanks for the compliment.
Been doing okay. Seriously busy. And YEP! Rearrange clothing is a great hobbie when you go thru clothes so quickly, hahahaha. Two more weeks till I see the PS and I'm all giddy. I keep bouncing between 150 lbs and 156 lbs for the last few weeks so I'm hoping that this is my stopping point so I can have ps soon.

Jennifer,
It sounds like you are over filled. You need to contact your surgeon and get a unfill, perhaps of just .1cc. Sometimes an unfill that small will make a huge difference. Don't let yourself continue to suffer like this. Not only does it play with your mind but phsyically it could lead to problems with your band, like band slippage, if you continue to slim AND vomit all the time. The goal of the band is to still be able to eat and hold 3-4 oz of food per meal. So if you are ever unable to do that (ie: constant slimming, pb'ing, and vomiting) then you are overfilled and could propose other dangers to yourself and your band.
If I were you I'd get ahold of my surgeon ASAP - but meanwhile stick with brothie soups and warm liquids till he can see you and see how "tight" you are.
Good Luck

thank you to all of you who took the time to answer me and put in your info, and your concerns, i'm doing alot better i have been eating very very small portions of rice noodles and veggies, and broth. I also went to my bible study and my pastor prayed with me, i believe the good lord can heal any body and i am doing a lot better but if you would i could still use prayers. If theres is anyone who needs any pleases let me know.
I have bipolar and gain 140 pounds due to the meds i was on 10 years ago. i have never had a weight issue until then i was in the air force and very active until i spun out of control and finally got help for bipolar after every diet out there i felt like i had no choice but to have this lap band. For the first time in ten years i feel like i am in control of myself (not just my mind but my body) people ask me how did you loose so much weight, and as soon as i tell them i had lap band they remark oh like its so easy, maybe at first i thought it was to but its so rough and mentally its a hard road to go down. I still want to go out to eat with my friends, like normal, or have a donut, its a life chaging event its not walk in the park. Its only been 6 months for me my weight is coming off at a good rate hpoefully i can get things under control if i keep having trouble i will see my dr. next week. does the weight start to slow down as the months go by ?. again thank you all for answering
