Hair loss
Well I am into my 4th month and going into my 5mo. I have lost a total of 72 lbs and have 53 to reach my goal. My question is I have started loosing my hair and was wondering if anyone knew when it would stop and I would start getting new growth? Prior to the surgery I have always had some what thick or alot of hair and I know it wont be as thick when it starts to grow back in I am sure. I have been taking Biotan about 2 mos prior to having my surgery. Thanks for you help.

I have no answer for you but just wanted to let you know you aren't the only one. I noticed it starting about 13 weeks out from surgery. As of tomorrow it will be 17 weeks since surgery. Right now I don't tell a difference on my head but it is getting to be a pain having to lint roll myself all the time
Anywho, just wanted to let you know I'm with you. I think I heard it stops about 6 months out but I could be making that up
Have a fabulous day!!
Sam

Bonnie,
It is a condition that a lot of people get, according to the medical journals i have read, it usually starts between 2-6 months after a serious change in your body, number one being surgery and others being nutritional deficiency and some attributed to lack of protein. In our cases, it is the first two, there isnt much you can do to slow it down, but it says it lasts about 100 days, then should start seeing new growth. I am in month 2 of mine, and still losing. Thank goodness i had thick hair. It will eventually stop, but it is definately unnerving, lol. good luck to you in your journey! teri
Hi Bonnie,
I am about 6.5 months out now and am still loosing my hair. It started at about 4 months and has started to slow down. (Thank you God) I can tell you that it is a ton of hair and I can't believe that I'm not bald yet. LOL I started taking Biotin about 1 month before surgery and zinc. I take 1 5000 mc. two times per day of Biotin and 50 mg. of zinc once each day. I also use the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. I have tried many other products on my hair and have seen no difference. I still make sure that I get at least 115 grams of protein in each day, but each day it still falls out. I cut it short and said to hell with it. LOL I must say that I have a ton of new little hairs growing in that stick up all over and do what ever they want too. I guess you could say I have been having a bad hair day for the last 2 months. But my body has never looked better.
I hope you have a short hair loss period and that your new hairs are as healthy as the rest of the new you!!
Take care,
Carmen
My hair loss started in the 4th month and lasted till the 8th month. I'm just about 10 months now and have very little comming out now. I've been taking the biotin and getting in all my protien. I can't imagine what it would have been like without it) I've always worn my hair short and it has always been very straight. The new growth has come in curly now. so I not only get a new body, I get a new hair style. May as well go for a new hair color then no one will know me.
