I've got a date for surgery!!!
I started the journey in March and submitted to insurance (American Community) in May. They denied me but wouldn't give any guidelines to go by. They said if everyone knew the guidelines then everyone would be having it. Anyway, in the denial letter it stated I needed a physician supervised eating plan and since the psyche doctor said I was a "binge eater" in the report that was sent to them I needed to see him a few more times and get it resolved. So back to my pcp weekly for weigh-ins, monthly for office visits, 6 times to the psyche doctor, and logging every single thing I put in my mouth for 3 months we decided to resubmit to insurance. I called them to make sure they got everything and a very nice lady helped a lot there (I think she was an angel) by keeping me informed. It took about 10 days for them to approve it. Patience is not one of my best attributes but by the support of others here on the message board it helped a lot. "Good things come to those who wait". (thanks Linda!) It is definently worth the fight and if you don't get anywhere with the insurance seek legal help. I can give you more on that too because I already had my info filled out and the envelope addressed if they denied me again. Don't give up..........I didn't. YOU are worth it. Feel free to ask any more questions that's what we're all here for. They have all been a BIG help to me in the process and kept me thinking positive instead of thinking there was no hope left. They are ALL wonderful!!
