First Cold Post Op
I woke up Sunday with the tell-tale sign a cold was coming...a sore throat. Tried to drink lots of water etc.
Monday woke up feeling worse. Hurt to swallow, yawn, talk, etc. As the day progressed I could tell I was getting feverish. Got home and sure enough I was running a fever. So I showered, took some tylenol, climbed in bed.
Woke up again this morning at 4:30 AM and still had a fever. Took some more tylenol and back to bed. Woke up for work at 5:45 AM was was still feverish. Called into work since most my co-workers have small children and would feel awful if I got them sick. Spent all day in bed watching TV and sleeping. The fever went down this early evening but has slowly crept back up.
Alas it is now Midnight, Wednesday morning. Here I am awake and feeling awful again. I had Eric grab some orange juice on his way home from work, since it was my staple for getting over colds pre-op. However the sugar content scares the hell out of me (even if it is natural sugar) so I just had a few sips. What in the world can I do to feel better? Not sure I am going into work tomorrow especially if I still have a fever.
Well now that I have written a book I guess I better try to get some sleep...Sorry for the long pointless post

Chris and I have been struggling with that same nasty cold since Sunday. Poor guy has allergies on top of it. Personally, I've just been drinking water and any other liquid I can make myself drink and waiting it out (not like I can really take anything). It doesn't bother me too much, but I think its just cause I'm getting used to feeling like crap. Chris on the other hand is miserable. I think he has it worse than I do. I know he feels like crap, and he's still just the best guy ever. He's been sleeping in the upstairs bedroom to keep me from getting any sicker than I already was. Sounds like its just a nasty bug going around, and all the weather changes sure dont help you get over it!
Take care and feel better soon!
Sam,
I always drink hot Ginseng tea (comes granulated in little teabag sized packets, I use 2 per cup to double the strength) with some equal or splenda. It makes you feel better because is gives you energy and helps your immune system to fight the cold. Plus, since it is caffiene free, it counts toward your liquid consumption!
Hope you feel better soon.
Cindy
