Hi everybody, just wanted to update you all on my newest decision. Since having my surgery I now have decide that I am going to have Lasik Eye surgery and get rid of these darned ole' glasses that I have had to wear for 40+ years. I went today for my consultation and they said I was a good candidate so here we go, on Oct.13th I should no longer be wearing glasses!!!! Call me but I feel like I am doing the extreme makeover and boy does it feel good. So i will have to get some pics posted before hand and then afterwards. I am also scared ( ) to death. I think it is a fear of the unknown. Everyone says it is painless so we will see.Just wish me luck.. 225/156

Dawn Don't be afraid to have the lasik surgery. I had it about five years ago and after over 30 years of wearing glasses or contacts I can see very well without. The surgery is nothing, if you can go through what you did for weight loss, this should be a breeze. The hardest part is to remember not to reach for your glasses first thing every morning - old habits are hard to break. Sheryle

Dawn, Im planning on having it in Jan after my insurance changes over. Im so excited to do it also. Im very scared. This surgery was a piece of cake. I was asleep the whole time. BUT....Something about being awake and having someone cutting on my eyeball...just scares the crap out of me too.

Oh man that will be so cool! I would love to have that surgery! I have an eye disease that makes it impossible to have Lasiks. I really want it but no go... so glasses and contacts for me. I bet you will love the freedom of not having your glasses! What a way to take care of yourself! Good for you! I will be looking for a smiling glass free picture sometime after the 13th. Good luck, Carmen

Ohhhh Let me know how it goes!! I would like to have it as well. Can they do it if you have astigmatism? I can see close up just not far away very well. So I have to wear glasses to drive or watch TV/movies at night etc. My boyfriend needs it real bad, his eye sight is awful! Sam Mariah - Our insurance is going to cover it? Or are you talking about Andy's?

Sam our wonderful governor is selling off our hospital and making it private. So Im going on Andys insurance. Thats why Im waiting to have it then. He has much better insurance than I have plus when we are no longer state employees...I have no idea what kind of insurance we will be left with. Hes not my man Mitch...LOL Mariah

Oh yeah...forgot about that. I think some people from my Division are working on the localization. As much as I enjoy the holidays etc. of being a State employee I am looking else where because the pay is just not cutting it. Sent out lots of resumes the past two weeks so now I just wait. Sam

Well Im not looking yet but I will be after the end of the yr. Im waiting to see if the new group will give us a big pay raise....They keep telling us it will be a raise over what the state pays becouse we wont be getting all the state benefits. I would rather have the money anyway now that I can get on Andys insurance. Im hoping to leave the state about the time Andy gets to come home. Then I'll fly out to LA for a few weeks and then come back with Andy on a cross country drive. We want to go to the Grand Canyon and a few other places along the way while we bring his car and a few other things back to Indiana. The rest of his tools and things we will ship Fed Ex... Mariah Looking forward to seeing u next week and seeing how you have changed since I saw u last.

Sam - Yes you can have the lasik surgery if you have astigmatism. Mine was so bad that the last time I wanted contacts, I couldn't get soft (not even the ones made for people with astigmatism) and had to go to gas permeable. The first time I checked into lasik the only place I could even have the surgery would have been Canada - they didn't have the equipment in the States that could handle the amount of astimatism I had . As I said, I was finally able to have the surgery about five years ago and didn't have to leave the country to do it. I'm sure they've improved the surgery since. Sheryle
