New and wondering
Hello Hoosiers,
This is my first real post but I have been lurking awhile. I was scheduled to have surgery in July but postponed due to my A1C of 8.3. I've been trying to tow the line, even through niece's wedding, etc and working with my PCP to balance the insulin.
The deciding blood test is next Thurs and I'm getting both nervous and frustrated over the limbo I'm in. If it is down, surgery is on for Aug. 30. Meanwhile, I'm trying to function teaching music 3 days a week, getting organized to maybe be gone, etc.
I have lots of great friends to support me but hate to spread the news in case it doesn't happen yet..again...
Any advice?
being a previous diabetic... the best way to get the HbA1c down is boil or broil all meats, eat only steamed veggies and no carbs, actualy this is waht you will be doing after wls surgery. Try to get as much exercise as you can if possable. MY HbA1c was 9.9 at the time of surgery, and I have had NO problems at all, and pre op I was on 3 differant pills for diabetes and 30 unites of insulin, a day, and with in 6 months I was off all meds, Thank God. This site is such a great place and so helpful, I learn so much from here. Enjoy the ride, and ask all the questions you need answered.
