Looks like it will be July 15th at the Brandywine Community Church in Greenfield. Julie B is our hostess with the most-ist! There are directions in Mariah's SPANX post. Sam

Sam how did class go and what did your mom think of all this? I was totally blown away by the injection thing. I had never heard anyone talk about going home and having to give themselves injections everyday....think no one talks about that so they dont scare us off from this....LOL Mariah

I actually had my pre-op testing. I am going to have my class the day after your surgery and that is when I am going to stop by and see you. The testing wasn't too awful...not fun but not awful. Sam

Christine, Its called Lovinox I believe. Its a blood thinner similar to heprin. They are subQ injections. I think u are only on them for a week or so. Mariah Sorry Sam I should have put that together. Did anyone go with you for your testing? Glad it went well for you.

Yep into your belly like you would a diabetes shot... doesnt hurt.. you do it yourself.. they show you how... keeps you from getting a blood clot.. I had to do it after my knee surgery too but that was for 4 weeks instead of 1. Linda

Howdy Kylie!!!!!! Things are going well....busy....but well! The kids keep me running. Though I have more energy now to try and keep up with them I'm down 89 pounds so far and I am close to being overweight rather than obese!! Never thought I would be excited to be called overweight ha ha. I love your pic! One of these days I will figure out how to post a post op pic. Are you losing your hair? Mine is falling out something horrible. I know it seems we all have to go through that stage but I will be glad when it's over. Hope to see ya'll at the clothing exchange. Claudette

The Lovenox shots aren't too bad really - the needle is extremely small and you don't even really feel it. Plus it only lasts for 7 days or so. I was a little nervous when I first heard about it also, but the nurse gave me the shot in the belly a couple of times the two days after surgery, so you learn before you have to do it to yourself that it really doesn't hurt. After doing that for seven days, (and practicing even more by giving my geriatric Westie his insulin shots twice a day), I got courageous and asked Dr. Inman for injectable B-12. With a trick a friend of mine who is an RN taught me, I've even learned how to do it in my arm all by myself! Not even painful. After the rigors of surgery, I think we just develop additional courage!
