Oh this is a tricky situation. I am going to be in a wedding in September (the 16th to be exact.) At that point I will be just shy of 2 months out. I got a message today from the bride that I need to get my measurements taken and sent to the bridal shop ASAP. The biggest problem is I am not telling anyone about my surgery. Just my parents, boyfriend, and 3 best girlfriends know. What do I do? Call the dress shop and explain? I figured I would have at least till beginning of August before ordering the dress! So now I am stuck. I don't want to order something too small but I also don't want to order something that is going to be too large to take in ya know? Any ideas? Sam

Sam I wouldn't panic......being just shy of 2 months out you will definatly see a difference but it will not be drastic at that point. How tall are you and what size do you wear now? Hopefully the style will be easily taken in at the top and flow well thru the hips...the hips aren't as much a problem as the top at least that is the way mine has melted off. After you know the style, you might call the dress shop and make sure that they do NOT allow extra just in case..so you will not have someone adding inches instead of taking them away. Relax sweetie..it will be fine HUGS! Marianne

sounds like you are gonna have to explain to the dress shop...cos that dress sure does have to fit.i would ask if anyway a week before you could have it sized, heck 2 days before....cos at that time you will be dropping sizes...i know i thought that first month and maybe up to 6 weeks i thought i would never lose weight, wore the same clothes...but once these smaller sizes start to come into play a few pounds can make all the difference.....

Talk to the dress shop and let them know that you want it kept private (do not discuss w/Bride, etc.) Everyone loses differently, just like others have said. At 4 weeks post op I was down 2 sizes, but I'm just now (12 weeks post op) looking at going down one more size. There isn't any real way for you to tell right now what size you will be then. Give them your current measurements and ask how long they can wait on a more accurate set post surgery. They have to deal with women losing and gaining all the time. Most bride's yo-yo because of all the stress. Also, they have double sided tape they use to keep dresses in place. At my wedding, the brides maids wore "off the shoulder" dresses and they literally taped the dresses to their sholders and bust so they wouldn't move during the reception (dancing, etc.). It will be fine. The best part is once you start losing, you are liable to get more looks than the bride! So relax. You'll be able to work it out, it just may take a little more coordination than you originally expected. You can do it. Look what you have accomplished so far. It had to be harder getting approved for surgery than getting this dress issue worked out! Cindy
