Juicy juice... start with adding a little water to it... NO orange juice yet to much acid. The only fruits I ate so early was mandairian oranges... Not so much acid and pulp... Dr reccomended and Linda approved... still eat them.. dont mix the fruits try one at a time to see what might be the one hurting. Linda

The only fruit I have eaten very much of is watermelon. That doesn't have much sugar relative to the volume you can eat. Also, I only use a chunk of banana about 1 1/2 inches in 8 - 16 oz of milk with 1 slightly rounded spoon of SF Nesquik and 1/3 c powdered milk for my protein drink (the point being that you only need a little banana to get the flavor in a shake, but feel free to try the recipe). I will say that I held off on the watermelon until I was about 8 weeks post op though. If you can tolerate milk (some people are lactose intolerant right after surgery, but it goes away after a while for most, luckily for me I was not), it is a good souce of carbs too (11 gr in 8 oz). Also, if your doctor is concerned that you might have hypoglycemia (a quick spike in BS followed by a quick drop in BS shortly after eating - my mom's would spike to 210 and drop to below 70 in 15 min.) he or she can prescibe a glucometer and your insurance should cover both the meter and the testing supplies. Talk to your doctor and listen to the nutritionist. You are like a new baby having to learn how to eat all over again. This is what gives us an opportunity to learn better eating habits this time around. Unfortunately, it is definitely a learning process. I have had a love-hate relationship with eggs since I started on solid foods again!

Thanks, Cindy! I had a incident yesterday where I believe my blood sugar was too low.... it was right after I woke up, before eating anything. Dizziness, chills, sweats, nausea, etc. Couldn't have been dumping because my stomach was empty. I e-mailed the nutritionist about it and she agreed probably low blood sugar. So this morning I had some diluted fruit juice when I got up, then I excerised, had my protein drink, and another several ounces of diluted fruit juice. I find that if I dilute it (4 oz juice, 4 oz water) it doesn't make me dump. I've had more energy this morning than I've had in a long time, so I think this may be helping. I know what you mean about our new stomachs... it is a daily learning process for me!! I go see Dr. Inman and the nutritionist on Monday and will find out if they think I need to test my sugar on a regular basis. I'm looking forward to seeing how my body likes eggs... I think I get to add them in next week. I'm so excited to be moving on to another phase.... this one is DULL!!
