Congrats on your surgery. First off, get you some Gas X strips. It helps relieve some of the gas but you dont have to swallow anything in your tiny pouch. You should get used to being gassy. It is a part of the everyday life of theWLS patients. LOL
Next, Protein, protein, protein.... you need to get it in ASAP the longer you let your body deplete it's reserve of protein... the harder it is to build it up. You will lose hair around 3 to 6 months out when your protein levels drop low. So get it going now and hopefully you wont lose much hair at all.
It's really important that you try to get in lots of water, the protein, and the exercise.
About the hunger issue, we have a smart group here... they are right. The Vagus nerve is the nerve that is severed during surgery and it tells your brain several things about your digestive system. So when you eat too fast or too much, don't be surprised by hiccups or a runny nose. It's all triggered by the Vagus nerve. So your hunger issue right now are most likely head hunger issues because you were eating on a regular basis just a week ago. Chewing food may seem like an insignificant thing last week but now, your body is missing it so it thinks you are hungry because you are not chewing or crunching anything!!!! :) That will pass.
I am glad you feel comfortable with posting and asking questions. We are here for you!!!!

Tracy
You will have to travel, but it will be well worth it. The Duodenal Switch Board will be able to help you with surgeons who do this. There are only a handful of surgeons who successfully do this and I recommend only going to them.
