I recently had surgery through him, it was liver reduction diet, then 2 days before surgery liquids only, then nothing after midnight.
Topic: Dr. Evanson, PreOp diet?
Hi all,
Im scheduled to have RNY with Dr. Evanson on April 12th and I was wondering if he normally requires a PreOp diet? I am going to Vegas the week before surgery and I am wondering what sort of restrictions I am going to have to put on myself.
My Nutrition class is set for March 15 and my PreOp testing is the 22nd, so I know I will get this infomration eventually, but I am a bit obsessive about things and I am just really curious.
Thanks!

Topic: vericous veins
I have been dealing with alot of somewhat painful, achy legs in the thigh area and @ first I just thought I was working out to much or to hard, than i realized even when I had slacked off I was still very achy and heavy feeling in my legs. I made a app. with my pcp and she was worried about my bulging vericose veins. I knew i had always had them, but they never seemed to bother me before. I am now having to look into having them removed. I am really nervous about it and I have no idea whare to go.Has anyone had this procedure done? Whare did you go to get it done ? I am going to get a referral from my WLS doc,but he is out of the office till Monday.

Hi Kris!
Well, I made it through OK with no complications!
I just got back from the hospital. My main complaint right now is irritation at
the sites and chafing making them extra tender...
Now I'm just taking it easy veg for a while, sleeping undisturbed will be nice.
I know you're already there, but you can read this afterward.
Don't worry so much and sit back and enjoy this wild ride!!
Best wishes
Diane

HI Kris, You will do great! If you think you night get sick from the anesthetic tell your Dr. They can do wonderful things to stop that now a days! I used to ralph like a sick dog every time I went under, now it is nothing. The pain was not so bad. If you hurt tell the nurse, they want you to rest and heal and that means keeping the pain under control. Do not try to "tough it out". DO get up and walk alot. You will be glad later that you did. Ask for a stomach binder to help hold things in place. It helped me immensely. Sip, sip, sip and rest, rest, rest. Enjoy the stay! You will be plenty busy when you go home with3 girls! I have 3 DD's too, but mine are in their 30's now! Keep in touch and will be praying for you.

Topic: Indianapolis DS Events in March
The Indianapolis Duodenal Switch group will be meeting twice this month. If you are interested in learning more about the DS or just hanging out with "real life" DSers, please contact me about our activities.
March is here and I can see the promise of spring. Every once in a while the sun peaks out between snow storms
. I'm planning dinner on the south side of Indianapolis this month so I hope folks from Greenwood, Moorseville, Shelbyville, and other points south can make it.
Dinner
Tuesday, March 8th, 6pm
Longhorn Steakhouse, 4820 E Southport Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46237
Online Info
Salmon, Prime Rib, or Bacon wrapped Filet
There's always something good on the menu! Dinner is open to anyone -- those researching, preop, newbies, and long-term postop. Please message me or post a note on the DS board post if you plan to attend so I can be sure to have enough seats.
Support Group
Tuesday, March 22nd, 6:30pm - 8:00pm
St. Vincent Carmel, Bariatric Center, Entrance 4
Map of location
The support group meeting, lead by a St Vincent nurse or dietitian, is open to all pre- and post-op patients regardless if they had surgery at St Vincents. We often grab a bite to eat afterward.
For future dates and locations, check the calendar in my sig line.

Topic: Surgery tomorrow!!!!
I can't believe that tomorrow will be the first day to my new life!!!! I never thought this day would come!!! I'm getting really nervous!! I have the fears that I think everyone has before major surgery. Will I wake up in alot of pain? Will I wake up sick? Will I have any complications? Will I be able to get in all my fluids and be able to get up and walk? Will the shots hurt? (I'm a big baby!!!!) Will I come home in alot of pain? Will I still be able to help my kids with things after I get home?
I have no doubt that my surgeon knows what he's doing. Dr. Evanson is such a sweet, caring, confident man!! I know that the Lord will help ease my fears. I just keep telling myself that I'm doing this for my kids and for my husband, but most importantly, for me. I want to be healthy, so that I can see my kids grow up and become healthy adults.
Wish me luck!! Any prayers would be great too!!
