I'm using a walker because my RSD has progressed pretty badly making my right leg very atrophied. So until I can rebuild muscle back in there, I use a wheeled walker when I take Q out to the play ground by our house. If I go out without it, then I make sure Matt and/or Gage are with me. And I don't drive anymore unless I really have to.

I'm also using Depends 24/7.

Topic: Finally losing again
I am 8 years post op from my RNY.  I am trying to lose the rest of the 90 pounds that I put on from steroids and to be honest some poor eating choices.  I have about 30 more pounds to lose.

I had been stalled since January.  I went to my pain management doctor today and I am down 9 pounds!  YEAH!!!!!  I've worked hard for all nine pounds.  I recently started a couch to 5k program to get me running for the first time in a long time.  My pain management doctor was proud of me.  Why didn't I just listen to him a long time ago?  He keeps telling me that if I can tighten and tone my body it will lessen my daily abdominal pain.  So far no luck with less pain, but I'll take the weight loss!

Topic: 2 new recipies and some thoughts on emotional eating...
It's been a while since I posted, but I need this one.  Emotional eating is a huge struggle for me as I am sure it is for some of you.  After you read this, share your thoughts, experiences, lessons, etc with me.

I also posted my recipes for baked cheese sticks and crunchy ranch chicken...

it sounds to me like you are probably dehydrated. you MUST get your fluids in. dehydration can cause nausea. if you are that dehydrated then you need to contact your dr about getting some IV fluids. at 2 months you should be able to get all your fluids in and you should also be able to eat enough to get in 50-60 grams of protein. if it were me.... i would be calling the dr ASAP if you havent already. hope you get to feeling better soon.

Got to get fluids, protein and vitamins in.  No choice - gotta do it.

Keep trying different proteins.  Go to www.vitalady.com to get samples of different brands and flavors.  They are $1.99 each.  Save you from buying tubs of things you don't like.

Drink protein drink from a sippy cup so you can't smell it.  Try your protein drink hot with some sugar free swiss miss hot chocolate or try unflavored protein in malt-o-meal, soup, broth, cottage cheese.

You can blend food and eat with a baby spoon.  Try for 2 oz.

You need to see the surgeon if you can't do the minimum or you will get sick.  Your body is robbing your muscle (your heart is a muscle) and bones and teeth to get nutrients because you are taking them in.  This is serious.

Quite normal.  You were NPO before surgery and then the IV fluids.  Both cause water weight gain.  Don't compare yourself to others.  Some gain in hospital, some don't.  This is your journey - it is individual.

Just keep following your plan.

Best wishes.

Jodi it's been a long time since we have talked.  Why are you having to use a walker?

In Indy - Dr Bergman by far is the best. There are many of us on this board that have had her & she is amazing. As well as her office staff. They take care of the insurance for you. Dr Bergman is sincere & extremely good at her job.
