Hi! I'm on the westside also. The primary care doctor I had that helped me get through the whole surgery process was Dr Thaddeus Poe with American Health Network. I guess you could say they are between Avon and Danville at Prestwick Plaza. He was very helpful in getting me through the whole process start to finish without a six month diet, even though I had tried everything else.
I had an insurance change and now go to Dr Tracy Murray with IU West. I'm not sure of her stance on obesity and the surgery, but really care for her.
Hope this helps. Feel free to message me anytime.

Hi - I found OH looking for information on WLS in Indiana.
I've had it on my list to attend one of IU-Bariatric's seminars but haven't taken that step yet.
I'm really in need of a primary care doctor. I'm looking for one who is comfortable with very heavy (400) patients and knowledgeable about health challenges in that come with the territory.
I'm on the west side of Indy but would be willing to drive a bit.
Thanks!

Topic: RE: Which Hospital to Get RNY Done?
I can tell you that I have had surgery at both IU North and St Vincent Carmel. I liked both hospitals, but prefered the care I got from IU North better. I know it might be far to travel, but I would highly recommend my surgeon. Dr Ditslear. I know that St V has an excellent support system and several groups that you can attend, even cooking classes that are free.
Wishing you the best of luck on a very hard decision!
