I have my Dr consultation the 16th of June how long from consultation y surgery ??
I have my consult 6-16 I pray it doesn't take that long til surgery
C'mon Hoosiers! I know there are more people than myself involved in preparing for or having had WLS!!
I know Indiana is a pretty boring place but speak up please.
I would love to find a weight loss buddy.
I am PRE-OP RnY. Still no date for surgery. Kinda failed my psych evaluation in that I have to attend support classes and have my mental health therapist send a letter of my progress to the surgeon's nurse. I guess that stemmed from me "going it alone"... in other words... I don't have much if any support system in place. So, I guess my surgery won't be scheduled until yet MORE hoops are jumped through. I started this process in August 2015. Who knows how long it will be yet before I get a surgery date.
Let's hear your story.
Hello all!
I'm new to this site, and I was hoping someone could answer some questions for me! I am applying for HIP+, because I want an insurance that covers WLS. I haven't been able to find much information about the specifics of what the plan covers though.
Is Lap Band surgery covered by HIP+?
For those who have gotten WLS with HIP+, how much did you pay out of pocket? I'm just trying to get an idea of how much it will cost.
Thank you for any help with this! (:
I have surgery scheduled with him on the 14th this month. I have had some problems with contacting them preop, (automative phone service sucks!) but after I got through they have been great!
Mine is first thing in the morning and I have to be there at 530am so that could be why he just said one day. Thank you for sharing about work! I work at a desk and take calls for medical equipment and hospitals buildings and grounds so it's not intense work by any means. Were you just tired after having the surgery or in pain for that first week?
My surgery was late in the day, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. I had no health issues at all prior to surgery.
I had surgery on Tuesday, took a week off, the following Tuesday I went to work half days, and the week after I started all days. I know everyone heals differently but this worked really good for me. This was my first week back at work and although I was exhausted I managed, even worked overtime.
My work knows that I will be having it done. There are a hand full of my coworkers that are really supportive and one has had the surgery already and she is two years out so I have a lot of support at work. At home my husband, best friend, mom and sister are always there for me and have already said that they will be there to support me so that makes me feel better about making such a big change.
When I spoke with the surgeon he stated I would only be in the hospital one night. I think that is because I am younger and do not have any health issues at the moment so he thinks it will go very smoothly with no issues for me. I am praying that he is right! While my co workers at work are being supportive about this change, management is not. So I was just curious how long others stayed in the hospital and were out of work. How long did you wait until you got back into work?
I was there for 2 nights. My blood pressure dropped significantly so I almost stayed a third. But at the last minute it straightened up. Nerves are to be expected. You will be great! You have a good support system in Carmel. It really is life changing. No one at my job knew what surgery I had and its great to hear them compliment me on my weight loss. It's motivating. You will be great!!
