I gained weight in the hospital after my RNY even though you know I had to be doing the right things there.  It will happen.  Stay away from the scales.  They will make you crazy.  Sip those liquids all day.  Try not to obsess, staying away from the scales will help.  Follow the program, it will work for you just give yourself a chance.  Hang in there.

I got there at 10:30 and was number 124 in line!  LOL   Anyway, they were passing out free cake (I passed on that!) and drinks.  Didn't win any prizes.  Darn it, the people right behind me won twice and the people 3 in front of me won 4 times!!!

Oh well - had fun, got my movie, came home about 12:45 and fell asleep watching the special features!  LOL  Good time!

Well I am here at work at 8 waiting for the community to come on out to Ivy Tech in Terre Haute for Matter & Motion. If you live in the area come on out and bring your family. There are a lot of free events happening on campus!  I will be here until 2 today making sure everything here in the auditorium goes smoothly. I am so glad to be feeling better...gb surgery was a week ago yesterday. I recovered so much easier and I owe it all to my RNY life. I am so glad I had the surgery 10 months ago and that my way of life has changed. I do NOT have to shop at Catherine's any longer!!! Yippeeeeeeeeeee. Thank you God for making this all happen for me.

Hopefully you all have a great weekend!! Many good blessings to each of you.

One piece of advice from someone who learned the hard way...throw that scale away! I almost worried myself to death until a friend on here told me to step off of it and make it disappear. He advised me to only get on the scale when I went to the doctor. It took a lot of stress off of me and freed me up to do all I needed to do for my RNY. I have really had a much easier time since I only weigh when I have to.

As the others have said, make sure you are getting your liquids in, eat what is on your list, measure everything! It takes a little while for our heads to wrap around the fact that we are NOT hungry. SIP, SIP, SIP some more! Also find something to do when you think you are hungry...drink your protein, read a book, walk, anything you can do to redirect your mind!

I will be praying for you....

Welcome to the LOSERS bench! I am so happy to hear from you. I will be praying that your recovery goes well and that you find energy and freedom from pain. NOW be good to yourself and make sure to get in your fluids. This is a crucial time to learn to sip sip sip.

I will be checking on you daily! If you need me you have my cell number. Hugs to you!

The first few months really are the hardest time to get use to everything...including reading your bodies signals. Is there a reason why you have only been having popsicles for your liquids? They are sugar-free, right? Each twin half is only 1.5 oz so it would take alot of them to make 64 oz. Try the different crystal light flavors. Try decaf tea. Some people can handle cold liquids better than hot..some, the other way around...so play with the temperature also. And remember, just because you didn't like something pre-RNY doesn't mean you won't now. Our taste buds change drastically so be open to tasting new things. My favorite post-op was Crystal Light's peach flavor tea...pre-op? I hated anything peach flavored except peaches themself. My favorite now is nice cold water.

You may have to set a timer or an alarm clock right now to remember to get your meals in. Don't forget to allow the time to stop your liquids. If you are getting in your 3 meals a day (without drinking before, durring, or afterward) and you are getting in your protein drinks & water, contact your surgeon's office. An ulcer can sometimes mask as hunger. For me, it was soothed with food so I thought I was hungry.

As to the scales, most people find they do better if they only weigh once a week. When you do weigh, weigh at the same time every time. Myself, I get up in the morning, I go potty, then I weigh, then I get dressed...then I allow myself that first drink of water in the morning. After 5+ years, it's habit now. lol. Alot of things can make that scale bounce around.which is why I find it so hilarious when I hear some skinny chic talk about being 2 lbs overweight! I just think 'well, go poop!'. I don't trust a 'gain' or 'loss' until I see it happen at least 3 times in a row. Our bodies can retain fluid more some days than others (especially if we aren't getting in the water we are suppose to be getting in), Our bodies aren't on a timer to eliminate solid waste either so some days, you can drop several pounds and the next, it will look like you regained a few of them. So...weigh if you want, but use it as a guide only. And set some reality based ideas on how to interpret that information. I'm a lab technician (think 'scientist') and we use 3 as a set to beleive a change...so 3 is good for me. And if you do see 3 in a row increase, start asking yourself 'did I get all my liquids in?, did I get my meals in (if your body thinks it' starving it won't release the pounds), did I get my protein in? As early out as you are, if you do see a 3 day in a row gain, it is most likely because you are not getting in ENOUGH of something, not too much.

Thirst will make you feel hungry... You need to be drinking at LEAST milk for your liquid if you cant do the shakes and you need to be sipping almost constantly.. you need a gallon a day!!

Now pull yourself up by your bootstraps put the popclcles down and sip something ngood for you!! Protien also will make you feel full..
