Welcome to OH and the loser's bench!

Best advice I can give is to check out all the different forums by using the drop down menu at the top.

We have several OH Support Group Leaders on this board, and any or all of us would be glad to have you join our group.

I will be starting in person support group meetings as soon as I've located a place to hold them.  In the meantime, I have an online group.  Send me a message, and I'll be glad to send you an invite!

A good way to get to know several of us is to attend the clothing exchanges that we have about every 3 months.  Bring your clothes that are too big, and pick up "new" ones!  We bring covered dishes to share, and have a really good time.  Watch this message board for the announcement.  We should be having one in April.

Does anyone know if Robin is planning a clothing exchange in April?

I would be willing to do another one at my church if she is still not up to it.

Please give me your feedback.  I would like to know if I should start pursuing it or not.

I also have some ideas other ideas for social interaction at the exchanges.  I had planned to do one again in July thinking we could do one every six months in Marion and every six months in Indy.  It was just a thought.

I would like to do Bingo and door prizes at the next one I host.  Thought it would give us a little more interaction and social time.

Let me know what you think.... I am listening.  I also hope to hear from Robin as to whether or not she is able/ or wants to do one in April.

Thanks,
Tracy

The beauty of a woman is not seen through what she wears. It is seen through how she carries herself and the way she doesn’t allow herself to settle. Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life.  Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

Awesome!!  Thanks for sharing this with us Jodi!   I am very interested in checking her out.  I totally understand about what you are saying.  I , too, came to terms with what was causing me to feed my face instead of dealing with my habits.  And in that I have found a whole new way to appreciate life and love myself for the first time ever!!!

I will keep you in my prayers.

Huge hugz,
Tracy

WELCOME!!!  I am glad you are doing well.  Welcome to the loser's bench.

As for the boards... check them out a little at a time and when you find one you like... bookmark it within OH site.  there is a link to bookmark pages right beside your name at the time right of the OH site.

You will find a ton of different interests and boards to check in on.  Indiana has a great group of people and we like to get together about every 3 months for a clothing exchange and to just have some social time.  Welcome to the group and post often!!!

Huge hugz,
Tracy

Yes, Ladies.  I have Anthem and Marc my DH has Blue Cross Anthem on me as well.  With co-ordination of  benefits, I was covered for the surgery and Only had $500 deductible.  :)

From what I understand, it is deemed medical necessity based on the amount of skin and tissue that is hanging... I had 8 inches from the top of the panni to the bottom of the apron.  That's a lot of hanging skin.   She took off 8 pounds.   And it had made my lower back pain disappear now that my swelling is going down.

The surgery wasn't really painful for me.  Just itching on the incision until all that tape came off and soreness around the drain opening.  I am tired alot but I am doing just fine.  I would encourage anyone to check into it if you have insurance.  Dr. Bergman's girls are good at getting approvals!

I am doing very well.  I still have a drain... 2 weeks later... but I am getting by.  I will be happy to see it gone!

I got a couple new swimdresses off ebay for $12 each!  I got a kind that has slim panels and look pretty nice.  I am excited about it and for once will cruise without being scared to put on a swimsuit!!   I am blessed for sure.

Topic: almost my 2 year surgery anniversary
HI! It has been along time since I have posted. I know that some of you will not be happy with me posting on this site, but I wanted some to know that it has been almost 2 years since my RNY. I am now 201 lbs. lighter! WWWWWOOOOOOHHHHHHHOOOOOOO!
Also for the ones who care I am now living south of Indy and have a great job! I really LOVE living closer to my extended family members who have been a great source of support! Now that it is spring I am full of energy and since my huge weight loss, feel like doing everything I couldn't do when I weighed in @ 388 lbs. I hope to start classes at IVY TECH this summer if all goes well, if not I will be doing on line classes, to better my future. Of course the RNY that I had has already bettered my future. I would like to thank Dr. Jones at St. Vincents for making this part of my life possible! To the people on OH that still care and have given me support in the past I would like to thank them too! I hope everyone is doing great and good luck to everyone who is just starting on this journey! To those that are just starting please don't put to much stock in this site for anything besides information, remember your loved ones are the "real" supporters! Thanks again!

Topic: Introduction-New Here
Hello Everyone,

I am new here and wanted to introduce myself.  I had my RNY on 3/12/10 and so far I think I am doing really good.  Can anyone give me some pointers on how to move around on the board easier?  It seems so confusing right now.

Thank you and I hope to get to know several of you over time.

JO!

Good to see you posting!  I have to tell you I needed to see this post this morning.  I've been struggling the last couple of weeks with 'food' issues.  Knowing I'm not hungry and what I'm eating I shouldn't be... as I'm stuffing it in my face.   I think it does us all good to read things like this.  You can bet I'll be checking her out.  It's funny because I've said more than once in my support group "there's nothing that happened to me that a Frosty couldn't cure on the way home" but no one ever tells you how to handle the stress when you can't eat the Frosty.  I'm not dumb I realize that's emotional eating... everyone does it so it should affect me the way it does, right?  Wrong!  The surgery, like me, is a work in progress and I don't think I'll ever be done learning about me and fixing me.  I think you're working on you too and it's a good thing Jo!!  Keep on telling about the stuff you find... you never know when it'll speak to someone who desperately needs it at the moment!

Huggs,

Frankie
